Location: Kampot
The Khmer Ocean Life Project is a collaboration between the local NGO SAMAKY Organization and the UK non-profit organisation Khmer Ocean Life.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the implementation of the Cambodian Marine Mammal Bycatch and Stranding Network.
- Assist with the implementation of ongoing bycatch mitigation trials.
- Conduct social science surveys, such as questionnaires.
- Report writing and dissemination of findings.
- Data collection and entry.
- Assist with project administration and finances.
- Help liaise with community members and government officials.
- Assist outreach and training events for fishers and fishing community members.
- Support existing and new stakeholder relationships.
- Uphold organisation values.
- Other responsibilities as identified.
Key Requirements (skills, knowledge experience & qualification):
- Fieldwork and data collection skills
- Strong organisational, time-management, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in a team
- Computer literacy
- Creativity, proactiveness, and willingness to contribute new ideas
- Motivation to learn new skills and make a positive impact
- Interest in Cambodia’s marine mammals
- Ability to travel for fieldwork
- Fluency in English and Khmer (fluency desired, but basic is essential)
- University degree in science or a related field (desired but not essential)
- Driver’s license (desired but not essential)
