Roles and Responsibilities:
Student Health Care Management- Provide comprehensive nursing care and medical support for students.
- Review and respond to daily medical reports from the Residential Team.
- Assess, monitor, and follow up on students with medical concerns or ongoing health conditions.
- Observe students of concern in classrooms, dormitories, dining areas, and during activities.
- Administer prescribed and authorized medications according to school procedures and medical guidelines.
- Verify all medications brought onto campus and communicate with parents regarding medication purpose, dosage, and instructions.
- Ensure all medication administration records are maintained accurately and confidentially.
- Provide first aid and emergency treatment when necessary.
- Coordinate referrals and transportation to clinics, hospitals, or specialists when required.
- Follow up in person and by phone with injured or seriously ill students.
- Maintain emergency contact information and updated medical records for all students.
- Ensure all student health records are accurately maintained within the central database.
- Identify and respond to communicable diseases or health risks affecting the student body.
- Prepare and distribute health notices and communications to parents and staff regarding student health concerns.
- Lead and manage the overall operation of the school clinic.
- Serve as the senior health professional on campus.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to Residential Team members regarding student health care practices.
- Develop and implement clinic procedures, protocols, and best practices.
- Monitor staff compliance with health and safety procedures.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to student welfare planning.
- Mentor and support junior medical staff, assistants, when applicable.
- Coordinate health-related training sessions for staff.
- Develop, implement, and regularly review emergency medical response plans.
- Ensure clinic readiness for medical emergencies at all times.
- Coordinate emergency response procedures during accidents, outbreaks, or critical incidents.
- Maintain emergency medical supplies and equipment.
- Complete accident and incident reports promptly and accurately.
- Plan, organize, and implement student health education programs.
- Educate students on personal hygiene, oral hygiene, nutrition, wellness, and disease prevention.
- Supervise head lice screening and treatment.
- Organize preventive health programs such as vaccinations, eyesight screenings, and dental care initiatives.
- Recognize signs of emotional, behavioral, psychological, or mental health concerns.
- Collaborate closely with social workers, counselors, residential staff, and education staff regarding student wellbeing.
- Support students and families during crisis situations.
- Advocate for student wellbeing and appropriate support services.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with parents regarding student health concerns.
- Inform parents immediately when students require off-campus medical treatment.
- Collaborate with external healthcare providers, clinics, hospitals, and child-support agencies.
- Ensure the clinic environment remains clean, organized, safe, and fully operational.
- Develop and manage the annual clinic budget.
- Monitor expenditures and forecast future medical supply needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for all medical supplies and equipment.
- Prepare regular health and operational reports for the Academy Director.
- Report relevant issues to the Child Protection team.
- Maintain strong communication with all departments involved in student care.
- Collaborate effectively with Residential, Education, Catering, Operations, Safeguarding, and Leadership Teams.
- Prepare and check first aid supplies for all school trips and activities.
- Assess health and safety considerations for exploration trips.
- Maintain communication with staff supervising off-campus activities.
- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism in working hours according to student needs.
- Maintain high standards of punctuality, responsibility, and accountability.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding medical and workplace matters.
- Participate in professional development and training programs.
Key Requirements (skills, knowledge experience & qualification):
- Nursing experience for 5 years as a minimum
- Registered Nurse qualification with valid nursing license.
- Previous experience working in schools, pediatric care, community health, or residential care preferred.
