ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching, Coaching & Skill Development- Teach curriculum PE and/or deliver high‑quality coaching sessions across Primary and Secondary phases.
- Coach students of mixed abilities, ensuring safety, inclusion, enjoyment, and progress.
- Support core sports provision in volleyball, basketball, football, and swimming; coaching strength in at least one of these is desirable.
- Deliver sessions in additional sports such as badminton, tennis, dance, fencing, yoga, fitness, or athletics depending on skill set.
- Encourage physical literacy, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and a lifelong enjoyment of physical activity.
- Plan engaging, structured lessons or sessions aligned with departmental schemes of work.
- Provide feedback to students and track their skill development and engagement.
- Assist with internal assessments and reporting where required.
- Support IGCSE PE theory or practical components (desirable but not essential).
- Lead or assist with after‑school training across multiple age groups.
- Coach teams for local leagues and tournaments, demonstrating flexibility with hours and days of work during competition seasons.
- Contribute to organising fixtures, transportation, supervision, equipment, and event‑day logistics.
- Promote inclusive participation while nurturing talent and competitive excellence.
- Assist with swimming lessons across K–12 where appropriate.
- Support beginner, development, or squad swimmers depending on experience and certification.
- Follow all safety, supervision, and poolside procedures in partnership with lifeguards and the Head of Sport.
- Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and student behaviour.
- Ensure appropriate supervision ratios and safe use of sports equipment and facilities.
- Prepare teaching/coaching areas and support general operations of the department.
- Model professional conduct, punctuality, and positive communication with students, colleagues, and families.
- Deliver or support sports clubs, recreational fitness sessions, or wellbeing programmes.
- Contribute to the House system through inter‑House competitions and events.
- Support school-wide activities such as sports days, tournaments, swim galas, charity events, and festivals.
- Promote a positive sporting culture that reflects RGSPP’s values and commitment to holistic education.
- Contribute to the pastoral care and holistic provision for students at RGSPP.
- Teach (or are available for Private Study supervision or cover) a set timetable per week.
- Accept responsibilities within their department as reasonably required, including assisting with the setting and marking of internal examinations, entrance examinations, and scholarship assessments, and recording results.
- Develop and share resources and good practice, contributing to departmental meetings and the online departmental handbook.
- Set and mark work in accordance with School and department policies; provide constructive feedback; maintain accurate records of attainment and progress; write assessments and reports as required.
- Attend meetings (staff meetings, INSET, Parents’ Briefings) and communicate with parents both at planned school events and where otherwise appropriate.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- A degree plus PGCE, B.Ed., QTS or recognised international teaching qualification.
- Accredited coaching qualifications (national body or international equivalent) in at least one sport.
- Strong experience coaching children or young people in school, club, or community settings.
- Experience working with children across a range of ages.
- Experience coaching one or more school sports (volleyball, basketball, football, swimming strongly preferred).
- Commitment to flexible working hours during competition seasons.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to teach IGCSE PE or contribute to theory/practical components.
- Experience coaching multiple sports.
- Swimming instruction/coaching or lifeguarding certification.
- First aid qualification.
- Experience coaching teams in leagues, tournaments, or clubs.
- Experience working in an international or multilingual learning environment.
