The role of the ECD head is to manage day to day operations of Early Childhood Development/Kindergarten program and facility. The ECD head will foster a learning environment to provide small children with a positive start to their education. This role will manage and mentor a dedicated group of early education teachers and oversee all operational requirements of running a Kindergarten and other assigned by the Village Director of SOS Children's Village Phnom Penh.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the daily operation of the kindergarten.
- Create policies and develop curricula which conform to the state requirements.
- Ensure that the property is well-maintained.
- Schedule on-going training of teachers.
- Coordinate Kindergarten admissions and enrolment, administration and staff management.
- Contribute to a school culture which is positive, purposeful and professional.
- To have an in depth knowledge of the Kindergarten Education Curriculum Guide, with the capacity to effectively blend subject content and pedagogical approaches with school-based needs.
- Employ effective and innovative methods for the collection of pupils’ developmental data.
- Set a model of excellence in classroom practice.
- Carry out all the duties of a class teacher when necessary.
- Undertake a yearly cycle of self-evaluation and improvement planning on the delivery of the curriculum.
- Stay abreast and contribute to action research relevant to kindergarten education
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Other tasks assigned by direct supervisor or village director
- Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Education or Teaching
- Experience in teaching learners with diverse needs, especially EAL in early childhood / pre-primary stage.
- Experience in managing performance of staff.
- Experience or clear understanding of early childhood stage school leadership in a Cambodia curriculum setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of child development from birth to six, and its impact on behaviour and implications on play-based curriculum implementation.
- Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Email, and Internet.
- Good written and spoken English and Khmer language and the ability to communication clearly and concisely.
- Good knowledge of children’s issues, children rights analysis and community involvement
