The Educator supports children and young people in achieving positive learning outcomes and developing essential life skills, in line with SOS Cambodia’s National Strategic Plan 2026–2028. The role focuses on strengthening education quality, learning continuity, and individual development through child-centered, inclusive, and safeguarding-focused approaches. The Educator works closely with caregivers, youth leaders, families, and schools to ensure children and youth are supported academically, socially, and emotionally, with particular attention to transition stages, inclusion, and resilience.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Education Support and Learning Facilitation- Provide structured learning support to children and youth, including homework assistance, tutoring, and study skills development.
- Support literacy, numeracy, and foundational learning, tailored to the age, ability, and needs of each child or young person.
- Promote positive learning attitudes, motivation, and self-discipline.
- Support learning continuity for children at risk of dropout or learning gaps
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and regular review of individual education and development plans.
- Monitor learning progress and identify challenges related to academic performance, behavior, or well-being.
- Coordinate with caregivers, youth leaders, and case management staff to ensure holistic support.
- Integrate life skills education into daily learning activities, including communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, and emotional regulation.
- Promote values such as respect, responsibility, cooperation, and inclusion.
- Support children and youth to develop confidence, self-expression, and social skills.
- Uphold SOS Cambodia’s Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct at all times.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment free from discrimination, abuse, or neglect.
- Identify and report safeguarding concerns or risks in line with established procedures.
- Ensure learning approaches are inclusive of children with disabilities and those from diverse backgrounds.
- Liaise with formal schools, teachers, and education authorities to support enrollment, attendance, and performance.
- Support communication between SOS Cambodia programs and schools regarding children’s learning needs and progress.
- Participate in case discussions and referrals related to education or learning support.
- Maintain accurate education records, progress notes, and reports in relevant systems (e.g., PDB2).
- Contribute to monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes by providing timely and reliable data.
- Share learning challenges, good practices, and recommendations for program improvement.
- Participate actively in trainings, reflection sessions, and staff meetings.
- Continuously improve professional practice through learning and feedback.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor in line with program needs.
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in or diploma in education, pedagogy, social work, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and/or youth in educational or community-based settings.
- Understanding child development and learner-centered teaching approaches.
- Basic computer literacy (MS Office, email, basic data entry).
- Ability to work flexibly with diverse learners and age groups
- Good planning, facilitation, and follow-up skills.
- Clear communication and basic reporting ability.
