Position: Postdoctoral Researcher within the Medical and Veterinary Entomology Unit (Institut Pasteur du Cambodge)__Deadline:10-March

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 300 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 11 nationalities and includes 6 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.

The Medical and Veterinary Entomology Unit was established in October 2018 to address the shortage of expertise in entomological research and training in Cambodia. Its core research activities include studying mosquito resistance to insecticides, mosquito adaptation to environmental changes, virus transmission and maintenance between natural and urban environments, pathogen discovery, and assessing the vector competence of mosquitoes for arboviruses. The team is composed of experienced field technicians skilled in mosquito collection, identification, and analysis.

The unit’s primary objective is to understand and integrate the factors influencing the distribution of vector species that contribute to pathogen transmission. By combining these scientific themes, the unit aims to assess the threats in the field and assist stakeholders in identifying and combating them. Research primarily focuses on the impact of human activities and climate change on the distribution of vector species, examining the entire process from reservoirs and adaptation to competition, bridge vectors, vector competence, and potential control methods.

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is seeking a highly dynamic team with numerous scientific projects underway. We are currently seeking one Postdoctoral Researcher within the Medical and Veterinary Entomology Unit.
