RGSPP is seeking an outstanding and committed Teacher of Khmer to deliver high-quality language and culture education within the whole school. As a founding-phase teacher, you will be instrumental in fostering a love for language learning and Cambodian culture, ensuring students develop strong fluency across reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
- Deliver engaging, well-sequenced Khmer lessons rooted in high academic standards.
- Maintain the flexibility to teach across the full age range, ensuring a seamless transition from Upper Primary to Secondary phases.
- Promote an appreciation of Cambodian culture through integrated learning activities.
- Contribute positively to the academic, pastoral, and co-curricular life of the school.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver high-quality Khmer and social studies lessons that challenge and support all learners.
- Adapt pedagogical styles effectively to suit the developmental needs of both Primary pupils and Secondary students.
- Create a classroom culture characterised by high expectations, engagement, and purposeful learning.
- Use creative and culturally enriching teaching strategies to enhance student understanding.
- Maintain excellent classroom management and behaviour standards.
Curriculum, Assessment & Data
- Deliver a bespoke Khmer curriculum that adapts National standards to fit our international school context and allocated instructional time
- Contribute to the development and refinement of engaging Schemes of Work.
- Use formative and summative assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching.
- Identify pupils requiring additional support or stretch, providing intervention sessions where necessary.
- Maintain accurate records of attainment and contribute to reporting processes.
Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all phases to ensure curriculum coherence.
- Maintain a solution-oriented approach, sharing resources and building the department’s foundation from the ground up.
- Engage fully in professional learning and stay informed of modern pedagogical approaches.
Pastoral, Inclusion & Student Well-being
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils that support both academic success and wellbeing.
- Implement effective differentiation to support diverse learners, including SEND and gifted pupils.
- Act as a tutor and provide pastoral mentorship for our founding student cohorts.
Co-Curricular & Enrichment
- Lead or support school-wide cultural events and celebrations to establish vibrant traditions.
- Contribute to enrichment opportunities such as language clubs, competitions, or themed days.
- Participate in school events, trips, and wider co-curricular programmes as required.
Operational Responsibilities & Marketing
- Maintain organised classroom environments and ensure resources are used effectively.
- Support recruitment by showcasing language learning to prospective families during open days.
- Follow all school policies regarding safeguarding, health and safety, and professional conduct
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Khmer, Cambodian Studies, Education, or a related field.
- A teacher qualification from Cambodia National Institute of Education or equivalent
- Proven experience teaching Khmer within a school setting, with a track record of raising student achievement.
- Experience in preparing students for language assessments is desirable.
- Experience in a "start-up" or rapidly expanding school environment is highly desirable.
