Child Protection and GEDSI Officer based in Kampot or Koh Kong provinces (2 positions)
Role Purpose
The Child Protection and Gender Equality, Disability, and Social
Inclusion (GEDSI) Officer will be based in Koh Kong (1) and Kampot (1)
with more frequently traveling to target districts, communes, and
villages. He/she is responsible for effective and high quality
delivery/implementation of child protection, GEDSI activities under
Growing Transformative Horticulture (GROWTH) project in designated
province in accordance with the project design, budget, work plan, and
M&E plan, making sure that the planned outputs are delivered within
the limits of time and resources, and producing satisfactory outcomes to
target children and beneficiaries in compliance with Save the
Children’s and donors’ requirements and regulations. He/she will lead
and coordinate the trainings, meetings, workshops, follow-up activities
with farmers, schools, value chain actors, and relevant key stakeholders
and ensure the implementation of MEAL plan.
The post holder works under direct support from program coordinator, and
in close collaboration with the provincial team members, International
Development Enterprises (iDE), Provincial office of women ‘s affair,
Women and Children’s Consultative Committees (WCCC) at all levels,
Provincial Department of Agriculture Forestry and Fishery (PDAFF),
Provincial office of education youth and sport (PoEYs), authorities,
famers, value chain actors, private sectors, and communities to deliver
effective project results.
In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be
expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary
working hours accordingly. As Child Protection and GEDSI Officer, s/he
is expected to mainstream and implement crosscutting themes including
gender, resilience, disability and child safeguarding in the project
management cycle.
Qualifications
- At least Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Development Studies, Child Rights or any relevant field.
- At least 3-year experience in child protection, and GEDSI works.
Essential
- Practical experience in facilitation of child protection work and work with NGOs, private sectors and government partners especially in agricultural value chain and education sector;
- Good understanding of children issues and child protection mechanism in Cambodia
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, facilitation and presentation skills;
- Commitment and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, and full adherence to SC’s Safeguarding.
- Sensitivity and adaptability towards culture, gender, religion, race, nationality, and age;
- Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, work as individual and team and with various supervisors.
Desirable
- Minimum 3-year of relevant work experience in the development and implementation of child protection programs and/or development of protection networks.
- Ability to plan, implement, monitor, evaluate and consolidate reports to highest professional standards in a timely manner;
- Willingness to be based in most remoted district and/or travel for up to 70% of time to villages.
- Ability to communicate in English both speaking and writing.
Contract length: Unspecified Duration Contract (UDC).
