The WHO Country Office Cambodia is recruiting an experienced Cambodian immunization professional as a Short-Term Consultant to support measles supplementary immunization activity as an outbreak response, implementation of the vaccination coverage survey, and development of National Immunization Program Action Plan 2026-2030.
Background
NIP Cambodia has National Immunization Strategy 2021-2025 and beyond up to 2030 (NIS), in accordance with Immunization Agenda 2030 and WHO Western Pacific Regional Framework on vaccine preventable diseases and immunization. As five years past, NIP plans for mid-term review and do necessary update of NIS and develop NIP plan 2026-2030 towards NIS target goals in 2030. Gavi, the vaccine alliance, the main donor to NIP, also renewed its supporting policy and strategy for 2026-2030 (Gavi 6.0) that Cambodia’s NIP needs to take into consideration for coming five years activity plan. Therefore NIP, WHO, and partners discussed and agreed to conduct NIP review in 2025. The coverage survey is also planned in parallel in collaboration with National Institute of Public Health for accurately evaluating the performance of the NIP and understanding data-related issues.
As set in the NIS, measles is one of the most priority vaccine preventable diseases for NIP Cambodia. There is global measles resurgence since 2023-2024 and in Cambodia since September 2024. In order to stop measles transmission in country, WHO has been supporting NIP in outbreak response activities and, the school-based MR supplementary immunization activity in 9 provinces is planned in July and August 2025 using the Measles and Rubella Partnership Outbreak Response Fund. Challenges and lessons learned from the measles outbreak and outbreak response activities including the SIA in 9 provinces will inform to the NIS 2026-2030 and be incorporated into National Immunization Program Plan 2026-2030 accordingly.
WHO Cambodia commissions a contract in supporting WHO CO and NIP for 1) measles outbreak response immunization, 2) vaccination coverage survey preparation, implementation, and report, 3) develop NIP plan 2026-2030.
