General Overview
The Freedom Business General Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily, monthly and annual operations of Bloom Asia’s Freedom Businesses operating under its local subsidiary brand. Through compassionate and inclusive leadership, combined with astute business practises the Freedom Business GM operates with five overarching goals:
- Lead a strategic approach to business development within Bloom’s Freedom businesses focusing on astute measurement and implementation of business practises.
- In partnership with the Country Director, employ and/or support survivors of trafficking through business enterprise.
- Facilitate real-world training environments for Bloom Asia’s students.
- Create and uphold trauma-informed businesses practises which promote understanding of and healing from trauma for all staff.
- Ensure local and international compliance standards are upheld in finance, safeguarding and programming.
Working closely with the Director and Committee of Management, the Freedom Business GM provides leadership and daily oversight to staff within each of Glow’s freedom businesses, especially regarding business growth, finance, brand integrity and operations.
- Instilling the five core pillars of Bloom Culture: Love, Fun, Professionalism, Respect & Faith, which are built upon a foundation of Trust.
- Leading the way in fostering Bloom’s culture of leadership development.
- Ensuring freedom business activities comply with the ACNC external conduct standards:
- Child and vulnerable adults’ protection
- Activities and control of resources (funds)
- Anti-fraud & Anti-Corruption
- Reporting & record keeping
Team management and care
- Provide a supportive, encouraging and safe team environment to process challenges and team-member needs.
- Be a strong spiritual presence, dedicated to regular prayer for leaders, facilitating ongoing personal and team devotionals, pursuing Godly wisdom and vision, providing spiritual and emotional stability during the ups and downs and exploring how we best invite God’s Holy Spirit to dwell in powerful ways in Bloom’s business activities.
- Along with the Director and CoM manage staffing, position descriptions, performance reviews, workflows and projects with efficiency and care.
- Through regular catch-ups provide a conduit to the CoM on all aspects of team capacity and morale.
- Actively participate in a Committee of Management responding to (and reporting on) activities within the following fields:
- ELC finance & activity
- Cakes and Coffee finance and activity
- Safeguarding
- Marketing
- Staffing Developments
- Represent the CoM to the Board on a quarterly basis regarding the same CoM report deliverables.
- Analyse financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures and cash management) to ensure all operations are within budget.
- Anticipate, plan, and contribute to the development of future project proposals, budgets and reports aligned with long-term strategies.
- Uphold the consistency and honesty of the freedom business brand's values, communications, and actions.
- With your team and in conjunction with the CoM, form strategic plans to grow businesses, reflecting regularly on strategies and adjusting goals and plans accordingly.
- Ensure Bloom maintains compliance within the operating legal framework within Cambodia and provide timely advice to the CoM on emerging or changing risks and issues.
