The position will be based in Pailin town.
The Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Construction Field Officer – for Samaritan’s Purse (SP) is primarily responsible for the construction of water points, school water filters, latrines, incinerators and hand washing stations in rural schools in Pailin. This position works closely with the Water for Kids Senior Project Coordinator and is responsible to ensure that all projects activities and objectives are being achieved within the allocated timeframe.

Duration: 1 year (Renewable, subject to funding availability)
- Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with schools and local community leaders
- Identify local builders with construction experience related to reinforced concrete, welded steel, and plumbing
- Fill out construction report form for the construction progress and keeping accurate track of the process
- Keep up-to-date computer records/Hard and hard-copy forms of monitoring progress by writing daily/weekly updates on topics such as problems, solutions, challenges, spiritual impact, and achievements
- Provide monthly report of construction, actual achievement and lessons learned to his/her supervisor
- Follow up the construction weekly, and according to previous planned dates
- Pay close attention to the construction quality, making sure contractors and laborers follow the drawings and specifications
- Photograph and document the construction as-built and compare with the plans.
- Promote safety in the construction environment.
- Keep construction sites clean and free of debris/trash.
- Assist logistics in procurement according to specifications required and the SP Field Operations Guidelines
- Engage, mobilize and build close relationships with community and school leaders
- Represent SP in meetings with school principals, church leaders and the community.
- Coordinate activities with local authorities, contractor and churches
- Be respectful to the authorities, community members, men, women and children
- Help conduct trainings and follow up evaluations to facilitate application of learning of teachers and students
- Participate in monthly reflection and planning
- Assist with preparations for special events such as environmental cleaning and handwashing campaign etc.…
- Help with installation of school slow sand filters with the support of the WASH Senior Coordinator
- Provide feedback to the Senior Coordinator of any issues/ problems found regarding hygiene and sanitation
- Any other reasonable tasks requested by WASH Program Manager

- (At least) High School qualification
- Experience working and leading a team
- Driven to achieve results
- Strong computer skills and report writing in Khmer and English. (MS Office, Excel and email)
- Good spoken and written communication skills in both Khmer and English
- Able to drive a motorbike and car preferred and required to have a motorbike and car driving license and be willing to travel on rough terrain for this field-based position. (required)
- Experience with construction or water, hygiene and sanitation projects (required)
- Previous experience with working in community development (preferred)
