Cambodian Children’s Fund (CCF) is a leading international NGO that contributes to social development by providing life-changing education, nourishment, and healing to vulnerable children in some of Cambodia’s most destitute communities. Its vision is to transform these children into tomorrow’s leaders. A well-respected NGO, CCF currently cares for more than 1,800 students and 14,000 people annually, helping entire families and communities in crisis through a significant array of programs and initiatives. CCF operates in Cambodia through strong support relationship development and fundraising businesses in the USA, Australia, the UK, and Hong Kong. It has grown rapidly since its inception. To support development, CCF is seeking a qualified English Teacher based in Phnom Penh.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Enforce classroom behavior rules to maintain discipline and engagement.
Develop and prepare lesson plans, units, and projects aligned with learning objectives
Provide and deliver clear lesson goals and expectations to students
Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students
Encourage and guide students to independent learning through their learning tasks, inquiry, and critical thinking
Assess and monitor student progress using appropriate evaluation methods
Keep a record of what has been taught and the students’ progress and performance as required
Support and work closely with the slower learning students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Report student behavioural issues to the line manager promptly
Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Visibly ethical and able to demonstrate CCF values in day-to-day work
Bachelor's degree in TESOL or a related field
At least two years of experience in English teaching, preferably within a CLIL program
English Proficiency (at least equivalent to GEP Level 11 from the Australia Center for Education) or IELTS 5.0
Knowledge of innovative teaching techniques, online platforms, learning games, etc
Strong classroom management, interpersonal, and communication skills
The ability to use, or quickly learn to use, G Suite, including Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Calendar
Be punctual, honest, trustworthy, patient, respectful, and helpful
High compassion and commitment to work with community people and children from complex backgrounds and home lives
Genuine enjoyment in helping the students and a passion for teaching
Open to teaching in a non-traditional way with a focus on creativity and critical thinking
