Position Overview: We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Lower Secondary Teacher to join our school, which follows the Cambridge International Curriculum. As a teacher in this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Science and Math to students in the lower secondary level (ages 11-14). This is a full-time position focused on fostering students' understanding and passion for these subjects.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Curriculum Delivery:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in Science following the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Utilise effective teaching strategies, instructional resources, and technology to facilitate student learning and achievement of curriculum objectives.
  • Differentiate instruction to cater to the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
  • Promote critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and inquiry-based learning in Science.
Classroom Management:
  • Establish a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning, collaboration, and respect.
  • Set clear expectations for student behaviour and maintain a safe and well-organised classroom.
  • Implement strategies to effectively manage student behaviour and create an atmosphere of mutual respect and discipline.
  • Monitor and assess student progress regularly, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
Laboratory and Practical Skills:
  • Design and conduct hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and practical activities to enhance students' understanding of scientific concepts and mathematical principles.
  • Teach laboratory safety protocols and supervise students during laboratory sessions, ensuring a safe and controlled environment.
  • Foster students' development of scientific inquiry skills, data analysis, and application of mathematical concepts to real-world situations.
Student Support and Engagement:
  • Motivate and inspire students to develop a love for Science through engaging and interactive lessons.
  • Provide individualised support and guidance to students, addressing their academic needs and fostering their overall development.
  • Encourage active participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills through collaborative group work and discussions.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding students' progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Professional Development and Collaboration:
  • Stay updated with the latest developments in Science and Math education, teaching methodologies, and the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance subject knowledge and teaching skills.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and share best practices, resources, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Attend staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school events as required.
Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. (Science or Education).
  • Teaching certification/licence preferred.
  • Experience teaching Science at the lower secondary level, preferably in an international school setting.
  • Familiarity and experience with the Cambridge International Curriculum.
  • Strong knowledge of subject matter, pedagogical practices, and assessment strategies.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in integrating educational technology into teaching practices.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a passion for nurturing students' curiosity and understanding in Science.
