Freedom’s Promise is an NGO dedicated to the prevention of human trafficking in Southeast (SE) Asia through community development and sharing the love of Christ. We are now looking for qualified candidate to fulfill the position of Cambodia National Director.
The Cambodia National Director will serve as the Executive Director for all operations in Cambodia. He or she will also serve as the primary liaison between the Freedom’s Promise (FP) stateside office and SE Asia-based staff, partners, and programs. This person must be an experienced leader and a high capacity individual, able to manage responsibilities of leadership and execution to ensure that the organization consistently achieves its mission, goals, and financial objectives.
This position is based in Cambodia and requires regular travel to programs throughout Cambodia and to the border of Thailand/Myanmar. Additionally, the Cambodia National Director is expected to travel to FP’s stateside office annually.
Essential Functions Include:
Leadership Development & Management
- Oversee strategic leadership development of the Cambodia Senior Leadership Team (CSLT) based on Freedom’s Promise mission, core values, and spiritual DNA
- Lead CSLT Leadership Team in ensuring strategic plans, goals, budgets, and organizational priorities are developed and executed in alignment with the mission of Freedom’s Promise
- Conduct weekly meetings with senior leaders to provide support, evaluate needs, and approve key decisions
- Train and oversee Regional Directors in setting and evaluating SMART goals for staff and programs
- Cultivate a positive and transparent working culture for all stakeholders, promoting openness and transformation in successes and challenges
- Plan and oversee annual staff retreats and team-building activities throughout the year in collaboration with the People & Culture Coordinator
- Conduct effective annual performance reviews for members of the CSLT Leadership Team
- Oversee the hiring and release Cambodia-based personnel
- Model and maintain a high level of clear and respectful communication that will promote supportive working relationships throughout the organization
Operations & Infrastructure
- Create organizational strategic plans with the FP President and Vice President (VP) to provide vision and strategy for Freedom’s Promise
- Oversee plans, operations, and financials, including the operational structure of the FP campus, ensuring strong and effective communication and problem solving with all key stakeholders
- Regularly communicate campus development updates and progress to the VP
- Ensure the organization runs with excellence and integrity and is in compliance with all national and local regulations
- Act as the in-country representative for all Cambodia FNGO requirements and renewals, signing monthly and annual documents and interfacing with government offices as needed
- Oversee MOU renewal process with relevant ministries
- Assist Director of Organizational Development in facilitating effective staff meetings and times of prayer and encouragement for Cambodia-based staff
- Increase overall efficiency and consistency throughout the organization by developing and implementing standardized operational procedures, in collaboration with relevant staff
- Build and maintain relationships with other NGOs, churches, and coalitions
- Pursue new funding opportunities within SE Asia and assist the U.S.–based Development Team with grants and overall fundraising efforts to ensure FP meets its revenue goals
- Promote FP’s vision, mission, and strategy effectively at conferences, events, and meetings individually and through public speaking engagements
- Meet regularly with the International Director of Special Projects to provide support and strategic leadership, inclusive of choosing focus areas, setting timelines, determining priorities, and facing challenges
Program Oversight
- Measure ongoing program progress and goals with Regional Directors, evaluating and implementing necessary changes to achieve goals and strengthen programming
- Perform regular site visits to all programs in Cambodia, Thailand, and Myanmar
- Oversee the vetting of new partnerships and implementation of new programs with both CSLT and U.S. senior leaders
- Equip Regional Directors to oversee and ensure that all program quarterly reports are submitted on time and with accuracy
- Oversee Regional Directors and other key staff in the preparation of annual program and operational budgets; collaborate with relevant U.S.–based staff for review and submit budget requests on time to the VP
- Review and approve quarterly wire amounts
- Oversee the logistics of short-term volunteer teams with the support of the Executive Assistant and Executive Manager
Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in development, missions, business, or other relevant fields preferred
- 10+ years previous NGO or international missions experience with organizational leadership and program management experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of international development best practices, trends, and challenges
- Cross-cultural leadership experience and community development experience
- Fluent in English and good understanding of Khmer language preferred
- In-depth knowledge of Cambodian history, culture, and customs
- Proven effectiveness in mentoring, developing, and empowering leaders from diverse backgrounds
- Internally motivated toward job excellence with ability to manage and prioritize many competing demands for time and attention
- Compassionate disposition
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; effective public speaker
- Strategic thinker with keen attention to detail
- Enjoys working in collaboration to effectively solve challenging problems
- High comfort level and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Dropbox, and Google Drive
- Has a mature and personal Christian faith and passion for seeing individuals and communities transformed by the love of Christ
