The position is responsible for the daily technical planning, supervision, monitoring and reporting of the field activities in the agricultural development sector to support rural and smallholder farmers. The officer will help farmers improve their productivity, profitability, sustainability and quality of their both rice and vegetable crops in ways that are climate-resilient and innovative. The responsibilities will cover proper coordination with relevant stakeholders (provincial agriculture and local authorities) and beneficiaries for agricultural feasibility assessment, development of highly relevant training topics and method and provision of responsive agricultural training.
The position requires extensive field work and movement in target villages of Kratie province. Sustainable and safe food production is one of the main components of the duties required for the position.
The post incumbent will provide technical support and advice for farmers to overcome the agricultural challenges faced in low resource/low-capacity settings where marginalized and vulnerable farmers are underserved by business development services.
- Work in alignment with the values, vision and mission of the organization and comply with all relevant LLC compliances and policies.
- Work closely with project team, as a good team member, and take leadership roles in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting project activities
- Represent LLC, coordinate and establish networking with local governments, NGOs and relevant stakeholders.
- Consolidate M&E and activity report for submission to supervisor or delegated staff
- Prepare regular reports for submission to relevant government agencies and/or relevant local authorities.
- Lead in introducing, developing and designing new initiatives to support better project management and implementation.
- Support key local and model farmers on effective provision of agricultural extension services to improve farmers' practices, increase productivity, and foster sustainable development.
- Identify possible farmers with a problem they want to solve using a shared solution with the desire and ability to spend time and money to solve that problem through innovative adoption approaches.
- Conduct participatory assessment with farmers to deepen their understanding on how climate-smart and more productive agriculture applies to crop production practices.
- Conduct appreciative inquiry to offer farmers all the process and potential to positively explore, collaboratively imagine, collaboratively design, and jointly commit to a path forward.
- Provide technical support and advice on technology integrations and innovations in crop production, soil and water management, pest and disease control, post-harvest handling,
- Provide capacity building to farmers on crop production and crop management in the context of climate change and disasters
- Organize exchanges of experience between farmers and facilitate farmer peer learning process
- Conduct regular visits to farmer’s home gardens and rice fields to identify technical problems and advise with effective solutions to farmers
- Undertake the monitoring visit to each households receiving bio-digester system and solar pumping system and collect required the information
- Perform other tasks will be assigned by supervisor or Executive Director.
- Conduct regular project monitoring activities, develop case studies, and update project M&E(s) data
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with relevant stakeholders and targeted communities, including local leaders, local authorities and NGOs.
- Facilitate field monitoring or visit activities of Project Manager, Management Team, Donors and Stakeholders
- Conduct household visits, focus group discussions and key informant interviews to various agricultural studies.
- Coordinate with provincial/district stakeholders, local authorities and ensuring continuous communication with beneficiaries and potential extension providers regarding the implementation of works and in order to ensure a flawless progress of activities
- Documentation and sharing of results and lesson learnt to peers or project beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Prepare cash advance request, reimbursement and liquidation for his/her own activities and if assigned by the project manager.
- Assist project team to prepare project purchases relevant to project implementation and coordination activities.
- Assist project team in logistic preparation and arrangement for travels, meetings, workshops or conferences.
- Make a contact and communication with project team, beneficiaries and stakeholders in order to implement project activities smoothly and on time.
- Ensure that fund is effectively used for project activities with high transparency and accountabilities; this will include fraud and corruption protection and reporting.
- Ensure project activities and budgets comply with the policies and regulations of the donor organization.
- Academic background in agronomy or horticulture
- At least 5 years working experience in agriculture development and livelihood improvement sector. Knowledge of participatory agricultural extension framework is an advantage.
- Strong experience in capacity building and training curriculum/manual designs and training coordination.
- Strong capacity in producing reports, case studies, media articles, etc.
- Be a creative and innovative thinker, and ability to demonstrate initiative and creativity in problem solving
- High compassion, respect, and commitment to work with poor and remote communities

- High motivation and ability to work with less supervision
