Position: Project Officer - Bee Keeping Piloting (Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme)__Deadline:22-April

The Non-Timber Forest Products Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP) is a regional non-profit organization with its headquarters based in Manila, Philippines, and its programmes are being implemented in 6 countries including Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. NTFP-EP strategic direction (2021-2030) for Asia was developed and covers four key thematic areas regionally including 1) community livelihood development, 2) biodiversity conservation, 3) tenure right and governance and 4) Indigenous People food and health. This strategic direction is being used by individual country programmes to guide their operations. NTFP-EP Cambodia programme has been implemented its activities since 2008 with official registered with MoFAIC by having MoU with NCSD/ MOE as the technical support ministry. Recently we followed the strategic direction 2021 to 2030 of our regional strategic direction and align with NCSD’s strategic action 2021 to 2023. The overall goal of the program is to see natural resource dependent communities that NTFP-EP works with, have improved livelihoods through community-based enterprise and community-based eco-tourism while actively participating in protection and conservation the natural resources management in as sustainable manner.

We are looking for a Project Officer for the project of "Capacity Building on Bee Keeping Piloting Project in Siem Reap province. Beekeeping project is the initiation project funded by UNESCO called as a piloting project that need to be well implemented by (NTFP-EP Cambodia) as a service provider. The project is aimed to enhance knowledge of beekeeping particularly native bees “ Stink less bees and Apidosata” to communities in the protected areas around Siem Reap province, especially at the Kulen National Park with specifically of community protected areas under supervision of MoE jointly by UNESCO.

Duty station: Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This position is required traveling to target provinces.

Duration: short-term contract “6 months” with renewable if success of the piloting phase and funding available

Role:
  • Ensure that the Project Activities are effectively implemented according to the approved plan and budget.
  • Lead the awareness raising on Beekeeping and Lead Training on Natural Resource Management
  • Coordination and facilitate of training and workshop or other events with local authorities, Ministry of Environment, stakeholders and communities
  • Liaison with government agencies, donor, NTFP-EP staff and country program manager.
  • Ensure that the monthly workplan and budget plan is matching with the budget approval.
  • Ensure that project management is well implement and reporting on time
Responsibilities: The Project Officer in Cambodia will be responsible for the following:
  • Assist the Country Program Manager and staff in maintaining good working relations and coordination with concerned government officials to achieve smooth, timely and effective implementation of project activities.
  • Assist in undertaking a feasibility study/ assessment in the target site
  • Coordinate and monitor implementation of approved plans and budget utilization.
  • Responsible for the preparations and conduct of trainings, awareness raising and meetings/workshop of project beneficiaries.
  • Delivering series of awareness raising to target beneficiaries.
  • Develop training module for appropriate training and extension materials.
  • Assist Country Program Manager in regular field monitoring
  • Develop tracking record/ database of beneficiaries and trainees
  • Ensure the timely preparation and submission of project requirements and reports.
  • Coordinate and facilitate with other partners, local authorities, stakeholders or other government partners.
  • Regular update of the progress/ challenges to Country Program Manager
Requirement:
  • At least 4-5 years experiences in project management
  • At least 5-7 years experiences on community development
  • At least 4-5 years experiences in bee keeping program
  • Fluence English both Speaking and writing
  • Master on rural natural resource management and development or relevance degree
  • Women is encouraged to apply
