KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
To deliver the SISPP Early Years and Key Stage 1 curriculum as relates to the teaching of Mandarin for both first and second language learners.
- teach either individual pupils or small groups of pupils in structured lessons and during ‘child-led learning’ timetabled sessions
- cater to Mandarin first language and Mandarin as an additional language children
- prepare lessons and resources, evaluating pupil output where appropriate
- contribute to weekly specialist teaching parent highlights communication
- carry out administrative tasks, including updating and maintaining records of pupils' progress
- attend training as required
- lead of Chinese cultural calendar events to ensure that the school acknowledges and celebrates key cultural datesS
- All children are enthusiastic and display high or increasing levels of involvement. They are responding well to being stretched, taking risks and using their initiative.
- All children can show progress toward working effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- All children can show progress in confidently talking about their learning and achievements.
- Ability and willingness to report using the Focus Week cycle.
- Effectively monitor and record the children’s learning.
- Contribute to Parent Seminars or similar if required
- Establish and maintain an engaging, purposeful and safe learning environment for all children.
- Safeguard all children and contribute to a community in which awareness of safeguarding is at the forefront of everybody’s minds, and leads to the appropriate action always being taken to protect the children.
- Promote the wellbeing of both individual children and of the Early Years and Key Stage 1 cohort as a whole.
- Support the life of the school beyond the classroom.
- Deliver and support enrichment and co-curricular activities
- Support all Early Years & Key Stage 1 events such as Sports Day and the Winter Celebration.
- Contribute enthusiastically to the school’s Admissions and Marketing efforts.
- Teacher qualification
- Knowledge of Mandarin language and literature to a degreelevel
- Knowledge of the British EYFS and Primary Curriculum
- Outstanding teaching practice and full understanding of learning through play
- Ability to ‘plan in the moment’ to maximise progress
- Enthusiasm and willingness to work across the age range from 2-6 years
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in children
- Relish the prospect of collegial working in our school
- Able to engage and inspire new learners of Mandarin
