The position is for the Mobile Engagement Unit project. The position will be based in Pailin Province but will require significant travel for organizing events in other Program Areas of Samaritan’s Purse projects.
The MEU project will host independent events focusing on SMTA in target communities and also in supporting community events to be run by other Samaritan’s Purse programs in the sectors of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Protection, Health & Nutrition, Livelihoods, and Education. The Field Officer position is pivotal for the successful execution of the 'Safe Migration and Trafficking Awareness' (SMTA) program in rural Cambodia. The incumbent will be responsible for organizing community events and facilitating outreach activities aimed at raising awareness about safe migration practices and combating human trafficking. Additionally, the Field Officer will provide support to the project team in setting up the mobile truck equipped with a PA system and make-shift stage during community engagements.
Responsible:
- Community Event Organization:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community events and outreach activities in collaboration with local stakeholders and community leaders.
- Identify suitable venues for community events and secure necessary permits and permissions as required.
- Develop event schedules, agendas, and logistical plans to ensure smooth implementation of activities.
- Community Engagement:
- Engage with community members to raise awareness about safe migration practices, human trafficking risks, and available support services.
- Facilitate discussions, workshops, and interactive sessions to educate community members on relevant topics.
- Distribute informational materials, brochures, and resources to community members during outreach events.
- Mobile Truck Support:
- Assist the project coordinator in conducting community assessments and selections for the independent village targets of the project.
- Assist the project team in setting up the mobile truck equipped with a PA system and make-shift stage upon arrival at community locations.
- Coordinate logistics for the mobile truck, including transportation, setup, and dismantling of equipment.
- Operate the PA system and make-shift stage during community events to effectively deliver SMTA messages.
- Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect relevant data and feedback from community members to assess the impact of outreach activities and identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, feedback, and outcomes from community events.
- Prepare regular reports and updates for the project team, highlighting key achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
- Any other tasks assigned by the project coordinator.
- Willingness to carry out the vision, mission, and core value of Samaritan’s Purse – International Relief.
- Ability to oversee the technical pieces of event organizing, including sound, lighting, stage, and video, etc.
- Proven experience in organizing community events, workshops, or outreach programs, preferably in rural settings.
- Strong understanding of issues related to safe migration, human trafficking, and community empowerment.
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including community members, local authorities, and partner organizations.
- Fluency in Khmer is required; proficiency in English is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point are preferred.
- Strong willingness to drive and operate system for community events in different project areas.
- Strong commitment to timely, quality, and professional work.
