EMPLOYMENT TERM: Full-time
DUTY STATION: Kampot with travel to Phnom Penh, Kep, Preah Sihanouk and Koh Kong DURATION: 12 Person Months with 3 Months Probationary Period
1. REPORTING LINES
The Project Driver reports directly to the Senior National Specialist for monthly operations and the Project Director.
2. TECHNICAL FOCUS
Under the overall supervision of the Fisheries Administration, the PMU’s Senior National Specialist, Project, and in close collaboration with the Finance and Procurement Officers, The Driver will pro-actively collaborate directly with the Kampot PMU team and FiA in Phnom Penh.
3. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Driver will perform the duties described below to the highest standards of professionalism for drivers of UN plated vehicles.
Specifically, he/she will:
- Record all mission trips from Kampot PMU base of operations to the project’s target areas in the coastal zone as well as Phnom Penh and other destinations as required by the project from time to time. These will be included in the vehicle logbook including, date, destination, passenger list, starting and end distances and fuel consumption)
- Record technical and mechanical problems with the vehicle immediately to the SNS
- The Driver shall drive safety and carefully at all times and comply to all Cambodian road laws
- The Driver will treat all colleagues and passengers with respect and dignity
- The driver shall ensure all passengers where seat belts when travelling in the vehicle
- Respond to passenger’s needs to ensure all passenger’s feel safe and comfortable and take extra precautions on poor road surfaces and roads under construction
- Adjust the speed of the vehicle according to local driving conditions (e.g., low visibility, rain, snow, etc.) to ensure a safe speed at all times and a safe distance from other vehicles on the road
- Respect other road users including motorcyclist, bicycle riders and pedestrians
- Take extra safety precautions driving school opening and closing hours
- The driver shall not drive the vehicle before sunrise and after sunset.
- In the event of an accident or any incident immediately contact the insurance company and SNS
- Complete daily vehicle safety checks including the condition of tires, ensure lubricants are at the correct levels and keep the vehicle’s exterior and interior clean at all times.
- Assist programme activities as required to support field related logistics in consultation with the Provincial Coordinators and Field Officers based at Kampot PMU office.
- Before and after working hours, the vehicle and vehicle key needs to be parked at the office of the PMU in Kampot.
3.1. CONFLICT MANAGEMENT:
- Avoid conflicts and where necessary address them proactively acknowledging different feelings and views and directing energy towards a mutually acceptable solution.
3.2. ILLEGAL AND UNSAFE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE
- Under no circumstances operate the vehicle, in any situation or in any circumstance, under the influence of any substance that may impair their ability to operate the vehicle, including, but not limited to, alcohol, drugs, narcotics, psychotropic, chemical substances and medicines;
- Abstain from activities that would interfere with, or distract from, their exercising full control over the vehicle, including, but not limited to, consuming food/beverages or smoking while the vehicle is in motion;
3.3 MEDICAL FITNESS
- Do not operate the vehicle knowing that his/her ability to do so safely has been impaired, affected or influenced by illness, fatigue or injury
4. CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
4.1 MINIMUM TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school education
- A minimum of 5-years experiences driving experience
- Ensure that the Driver has a valid Cambodian driving license.
- Fluency in Khmer and English is preferable (speaking and writing)
- Good interpersonal, communication skills and a strong commitment to road and passenger safety
- Complete a full medical exam by a qualified doctor at a clinic approved by the Project Director and provide the medical report to the project Director before signing the contract and commencing duties for the CamAdapt project.
- Understanding of the UN’s Road Safety Code of Conduct is Mandatory “Section C, Chapter Vii Provision on Safety Measures” (1 May 2017)
- Previous experience driving with UN agencies, ADB and World Bank is an advantage
