Wildlife Alliance is an international non-profit organization dedicated to assisting governments in fighting the illegal wildlife trade, managing protected areas, balancing development with conservation, conducting land use planning, developing economically self-sustaining communities through agriculture and eco-tourism, securing and caring for endangered wildlife populations and building sustainable financing solutions.
The Care for Rescued Wildlife team is designed to rehabilitate animals victimized by the wildlife trade and provide them with the support and care necessary to ready them for release back into the wild.
DUTIES
- Accurate and timely translation of written documents, letters, text and audio recordings in English and Khmer
- Ensure translated content conveys original meaning and tone
- Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations in English and Khmer
- Cross-reference specialized dictionaries and translation tools to check quality of translation
- Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy
- Follow up with internal team members and program managers to ensure translation meets their needs
- Edit content with an eye toward maintaining its original format (e.g. font and structure)
- Provide administrative support to the Communications Team
- Perform other duties that maybe assigned from time to time
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven work experience as a Translator, Interpreter or similar role
- Fluency in English and Khmer
- Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors
- Basic Computer Skills with good knowledge of content editing tools
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- Bachelor’s Degree in Translation, Interpreting or similar field
- With sufficient driving experience and a driver’s license, a plus
- This position is based in Phnom Penh but requires some travelling to the provinces.
