The Asia Foundation (TAF) Cambodia and Starbucks Cambodia are seeking to support and empower two groups of volunteers such as, fresh graduates, university students, community associations, etc. to promote reading for children in the community with Let’s Read Program. The purpose of the reading campaign is to inspire low-income community children to love reading books, to build reading confidence for them, and to create fun and friendship for them.

They will have additional support from Let’s Read Program Officer, who will participate in developing ideas and participate in the brainstorming phase and reading sessions with the Reading Ambassadors.

The reading campaign is 6 weeks and can be flexible with the student’s time, but preferable reading session is one hour on both Saturday and Sunday. The campaign starts in the third week of September 23, 2023 and ends in the last week of October 29, 2023.

Description of Responsibilities
- Identify and select underserved communities of children and families within Phnom Penh or/and Greater Phnom Penh area
- Provide 12 reading sessions to low-income communities during the weekends (Saturday and Sunday from September to October with 60- 90 minutes for each session).
- Manage materials to create fun and inspiring reading sessions with children.
Requirements
- Be over 18 years old, based in Phnom Penh or/and Greater Phnom Penh area, and have an interest in social work and volunteering.
- Be able to provide 60-90 minute (about 1 and a half hours) reading sessions to underserved community children in Phnom Penh or/and Greater Phnom Penh area at the weekend both Saturday and Sunday.
- Be willing to travel to the nearby community in Phnom Penh or/and Greater Phnom Penh area and be patient with children.
- Be able to comply with TAF's children protection policies through training and signing of the policy

- A reading ambassador will receive modest compensation to cover the transportation, meal, and top-up phone card for each learning session and for the whole duration of the 6-week campaign.
- Get a letter of appreciation from The Asia Foundation and Starbucks.
- Be invited to join a closing event with Starbucks after completing the campaign.
- Get to know people from other universities, NGO, Starbucks, and ministries for networking and improving teamwork.

- A Letter of Interest explaining why you are passionate about promoting reading to children and your commitment/availability to follow through with the above schedules.
Note: Selected applicants will have a chance to choose their own team members within the selected pool of successful applicants.
