The Radiology technician works as the roles in the Imaging Unit. The Radiology technician directly accountable to the Radiology Team Leader.
Duties, responsibilities and accountabilities
Primary responsibilities
- Take X-ray and CT scans as requested by physicians
- Processing digital x-ray and CT scans on time to Radiologist/physicians
- Record and data entry for producing the report
- Checking, cleaning and maintaining the equipment/devices
- To be able to practice without direct supervision
- To undertake appropriate on-call duties as specified in the on call schedule
- To keep track monthly report
- Assume responsibilities in cooperation within the Imagery Unit
- To always ask for help when you are unsure, uncertain or do not know what to do
Professional responsibilities
- Follow the hospital policies and procedures
- Adhere to the terms of the contract of employment
- Follow the health and safety guidelines of the hospital
- Identify inappropriate practices by any AHC staff member
- Be accountable for all own actions
- While on duty, act as a representative for the AHC
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Do not use hospital property or resources for personal use
- Inform team leader as soon as possible if unable to work due to illness, absence following the hospital policy
Educational responsibilities
- Attend BLS and Infection Control refresher course once a year
- Attend class as required and comply with Nursing Education requirement
- Train selected staff the radiology skills when directed by Nursing Department
- Take advantage of radiology specialization training when available
- Have a good understanding of physiology, anatomy, disease and condition and continue to update and expand nursing knowledge
- Participate in and provide appropriate in-service training and facilitation of new employees
- Ask for teaching or explanation whenever necessary in the clinical setting
- Maintain a working level of English relevant the role of radiology assistant in AHC
Personal qualities and requirements
- Radiology technician/Associated Degree in Nursing (ADN)/Primary nurse is also encouraged for the job holder who has merits as described in the job and professional responsibilities
- Arrive at work on time, wearing the correct uniform and ensuring personal hygiene
- Treat all people in the hospital politely and with respect (colleagues, visitors, children and their families)
- Be enthusiastic, team work oriented, and highly committed to the hospital
- Be honest and trustworthy
- Be creative and flexible at work
- Good communication skills and understanding
- Be adaptable and change roles to meet the needs of the department
