The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is a Cambodian non-for-profit research institution established in 1953, IPC is today a scientific research establishment declared of public utility placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom of Cambodia and under the responsibility of the Institute Pasteur on the scientific and technical levels. The IPC is a member of the Pasteur Network, which brings together 33 institutes present on five continents. It shares the Pasteurian values and the ethical charter to which the Pasteur Institutes are bound. The IPC has more than 250 employees, including about 30 expatriates of 10 nationalities and includes 5 research units. It carries out research activities in health biology, public health and service activities (Medical Biology Laboratory, vaccinations and water and food analyses) and training.
Sequencing Platform is a newly-established facility whose mission is to strengthen – in transversal within IPC – operational research and public health response related to genomic sequencing. The platform is equipped with a high-throughput next generation sequencer (Illumina MiSeq system) and other instruments relevant to molecular biology experiments. Our platform is currently composed of two Principal Investigators in charge of general coordination and one research engineer.
The lnstitut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is recruiting a full-time laboratory technician for Sequencing Platform with one-year renewable contract. The recruited person will work closely with the research engineer and report to Co-Heads of the platform as hierarchical supervisors.
Recruitment conditions :
- Bachelor degree in the field of biotechnology or molecular biology and/or other equivalent degree with strong knowledge or background in molecular biology
- Fresh graduate is also accepted
- Langue required: English and/or French
- Available to start in September, 2023
Main responsibilities :
- Prepare and handle samples for sequencing, ensuring proper handling, storage, and documentation
- Perform RNA/DNA extraction from different type of samples
- Check the quality of RNA/DNA samples
- Prepare sequencing libraries
- Operate laboratory instruments in the Platform
- Contribute to maintenance and troubleshoot of laboratory instruments
- Participate in stock management of the lab materials and reagents
- Contribute the design of technical methodology of NGS for projects carried-out in the Platform
