Job description
The CPS is a global program working on the prevention of violence and peacebuilding in crisis and conflict regions. The CPS regional program SAUP supports three universities in the Philippines, Timor Leste and Cambodia developing curricula for peace and conflict studies. The aim of the program is to provide university partners with technical and human resource support in building their capacities in curriculum design and contextualisation by integrating best practices from local/traditional practices in non-violent conflict transformation. The CPS position links the work of advisory and technical support to personnel at Centro Nacional Chega (CNC) and Universidade da Paz (UNPAZ) in curriculum development in aspects of transitional justice, human rights and conflict transformation. The CPS Advisor is placed in the SAUP Hub in Phnom Penh and supports remotely with regular business trips to Timor-Leste.

Your tasks
  • Strengthening capacities of UNPAZ faculty members in curriculum development in the field of peace and conflict studies, including teaching didactics, student centered learning and research methodology
  • Strengthening the capacities of CNC staff in the field of intergenerational dialogue with university students
  • Coordinate the integration of curriculum developed by CNC into the bachelor and master’s programs of UNPAZ
  • Supporting UNPAZ and CNC in strengthening strategic partnerships and networking locally, regionally and internationally
  • Identifying and contextualizing the best practices and lessons learned of traditional peace practices in Timor-Leste for dissemination in the regional and international network

Your profile

  •     Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies, Education, Human Rights, International Relations or Development, or any other relevant field
  •     Specialist knowledge and experience in curricula development for formal education
  •     Knowledge of conflict transformation, peacebuilding with a focus on Transitional Justice
  •     Proven experience in providing trainings and workshops on teaching methodology and didactics, research methods, and other relevant fields to higher education
  •     Experience working with academic structures, institutions and actors through teaching, research and/or cooperation
  •     Experience in practical peace work in post-conflict/conflict setting, preferably in Southeast Asia as well as experience in international project management
  •     High level of communication and facilitation skills, experience in online formats
  •     Regional knowledge and high intercultural competence, respect, empathy and experience in working in a resource limited/dormant environment
  •     Creativity and the ability to adapt to a very dynamic working environment with a high level of resiliency, patience with the ability in self-organization, structured and strategic thinking
  •     Business fluent in English and strong interest to learn Tetum; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia or Portuguese an advantage
