Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Emergency Centre for Transboundary Animal Disease (ECTAD) in Cambodia is implementing activities related to antimicrobial resistance, avian influenza and other emerging and zoonotic animal diseases. The ECTAD program is looking for a Technical Assistant (Communication and Reporting) who will undertake the following duties and responsibilities.

The Technical Assistant (Communication and Report) reports directly to Technical Advisor (Animal Health) and under the overall supervision of FAO Representative in Cambodia.

Tasks and responsibilities
The Technical Assistant (Communication and Report) will:
•
Conduct communication needs assessment for the ECTAD programme and
develop, manage and implement communications and outreach/advocacy
strategies, including media strategies;
• Assist in writing project repots following the requirement of FAO and donor;
• Assist in in collection and entering of data in the Monitor and Evaluation platform;
•
Assist in integrating communications, outreach and advocacy
strategies into project proposals, workplans and activity
implementation;
• Monitor and analyze print and social media
performance concerned to animal health via facebook, local TVs and local
newspapers
• Manage the social media strategy of the ECTAD programme;
•
Develop and produce communication and advocacy instruments and
materials, including briefing materials, press releases, infographics
and guidelines;
• Ensure clarity, readability and consistency
with FAOStyle including style, spelling, punctuation and references

Regularly consult the FAO Terminology portal
http://www.fao.org/faoterm/en/ to ensure compliance with FAO standards
on the specific technical matter;
• When necessary, initiate uploading and approval of appropriate products on the FAO Publications Workflow System;
• Manage storage and backup of all ECTAD communication materials;
•
Build and maintain communication partnerships and alliances to
enhance visibility and to ensure consistency with corporate messaging
and initiatives;
• Assist with the ECTAD program reporting and undertake editing, translations, and proof-reading in English and Khmer;
•
The incumbent shall ensure coherence with FAO’s corporate
communication policy and operational guidelines for all communication
and information outputs;
• Perform other related duties as required.
•
In close collaboration with OCC branches and focal points, the
incumbent will assist with Graphic Design for web and publications and
with compelling audio-visual products (editing and film, photography and
video);
• Liaison with the Office of Communication (OCC) will be
maintained, either directly or through an agreed focal
point/coordinator, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, appropriate
review and clearance processes.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• University degree in communication, journalism, public relations, social sciences, advocacy or related field;
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in dealing with communication and social media including media relations;
• Working knowledge of English;
