The role
The Senior Grants Officer will play a crucial role in realising AHC’s organisational fundraising strategy. This position will facilitate the flow of new and existing international revenue streams and contribute to the goal of funding the organisation’s US$5.5 million annual operating budget. The ideal candidate will be able to identify new funding opportunities, develop proposals for both new and existing donors as well as fulfil grant management responsibilities including supporting the timely composition of quality reports and managing project data. As a result, successful candidates should have proven experience in writing with impact, excellent research skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. AHC works with leading funders from around the world to achieve our mission and this role requires communication and teamwork in a multicultural environment and across diverse stakeholder groups. Ultimately, the right person for the role will be a part of transforming the healthcare landscape for children in Cambodia.
The team
The Senior Grants Officer will join our Grants team, managing relationships with international donors across multiple geographies. The Grants team also works in close collaboration with finance, communications, administration and other hospital teams to achieve the department’s goals.

Responsibilities
New opportunities (30%)
- Successfully identify new grants donors/funding opportunities and work with colleagues to initiate tailored approaches to solicit future partnerships
- Assess capacity, interests, philanthropy and relationships to identify and qualify new prospective donors and assesses new opportunities with existing donors
- Develop high-quality concept notes, proposals and applications totalling $250k- $500k per annum, while coordinating the development process with all relevant medical and non-medical departments
- Lead the management of AHC’s grant prospect pipeline, maintaining clear and timely records to help maintain the Grants team new business workflow
- Create a detailed programme-specific and regional landscape of child health funders and funding opportunities.
Grant management (20%)
- Co-create and recommend proactive strategies that provide a meaningful and compelling experience for donors in your portfolio, resulting in consistent movement through established donor pipeline stages
- Draft, develop and refine high-quality donor reports and associated communications, ensuring compliance with AHC and donor requirements
- Maintain internal tracking of reporting timelines including working with relevant departments to coordinate appropriate data collection, analysis and financial reporting.
Renewals (30%)
- Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of mid-level donors ($50k – $100k) in order to facilitate the solicitation of additional asks and upgrades
- Draft compelling renewal concept notes and proposals for active donors with the intention of growing existing grant sizes.
Other (10%)
- Maintain Grants team workflow and lines of communication during Grants Manager’s absence
- Supervise junior team members’ work, providing constructive feedback and guidance as required
- Track and monitor all communications, actions, events and commitments for each partner in your portfolio in our donor database (Salesforce) to ensure a positive and consistent donor experience
- Support other Fundraising Department functions including international fundraising events and individual donor accounts when needed.
Key qualifications and skills:
- Have a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in business, marketing, communications, international development or other relevant fields/ equivalent experience
- Demonstrable experience in the non-profit sector, fundraising and/or grants management experience is highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to review large volumes of information, identify relevant details to present findings and recommendations clearly, concisely and accurately is a must
- Excellent writing ability that is clear, concise and logical in style
- Ability to build positive working relationships with donors, with a clear understanding of different donor motivations and modes of communication
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage several projects simultaneously is a must
- Excellent research skills, preferably with experience in researching trusts and foundations, using public sources and the Internet databases
- Ability to work well both within a team and independently in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment.
