The role

This is an opportunity to join one of Cambodia’s most respected children’s healthcare organisations. As a member of AHC’s Fundraising Department, the Grants Officer will play a key role in maintaining relationships with funders to support the hospital’s mission. AHC’s Fundraising Department promotes continuous staff learning and development, and this role will encounter opportunities to build diverse and marketable skills. The Grants Officer will join the Grants team, which works primarily with international grants donors. The Grants team also works closely with colleagues from other AHC teams, including communications, finance and the Executive Committee.

The Grants Officer will help to maintain the support of new and existing international grant funder relationships to achieve AHC’s overall fundraising targets. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, dynamic team player who is passionate about healthcare for children in Cambodia. They will provide essential grant management support to ensure AHC’s grants funders remain informed, engaged and committed to partnering with AHC for the long-term. The Grants Officer will be tasked with fast-paced and varied work, requiring communication and teamwork in a multicultural environment with diverse stakeholders from around the world.


Grant management (40%)

  • Draft high quality, accurate and timely donor reports (quarterly, interim, annual and final) ensuring compliance with AHC and donor requirements
  • Maintain accurate records of donor communications, relevant project data and grant documentation
  • Coordinate with AHC colleagues in other departments to ensure that project data collection and reporting are completed on schedule
  • Communicate proactively with existing donors to gain feedback, deal with challenges and increase donor satisfaction. 

Grant renewals (30%)

  • Build strong relationships with a portfolio of long-term donors to maintain engagement for funding specific AHC departments
  • Draft high quality renewal proposals to secure continued support of existing donors
  • Organise and lead grant project kick offs and regular review meetings to discuss project goals, challenges and provide assistance to project staff.

New business (20%)

  • Identify and research potential new donors/ funding opportunities from various sources
  • Contribute to drafting of high quality proposals to potential grants donors
  • Meet proposal deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review and approval.

Other (10%)

  • Contribute to the management of existing and new donor pipelines using an online database, maintaining clear and timely records to track contacts, donor preferences and reporting schedule
  • Provide support to the Fundraising Department for donors’ visits
  • Support other Fundraising Department functions including events and individuals fundraising as required.

Key qualifications:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in business, marketing, communications, international development or other relevant fields
  • At least three years of work experience. Non-profit sector experience highly preferred
  • Detail oriented with strong English communication skills, both oral and written
  • Skilled in self-management, balancing competing priorities and working against multiple deadlines
  • Competent in using MS Office, especially MS Word and Excel, with good typing and internet usage skills
  • Knowledge of applications such as Salesforce, or comparable database applications highly preferred.
