Open Development Cambodia (ODC), in collaboration with Chumrum Digital and the Advisory Committee of the Cambodia Youth Internet Governance Forum (Cambodia YIGF), is pleased to announce the call for the Organizing Committee for the upcoming Cambodia Youth Internet Governance Forum (Cambodia YIGF) 2023, a youth-led initiative aimed at bridging the digital and technology divide among Cambodia’s young people.
The Cambodia YIGF 2023 will serve as a neutral platform for youth to address digital rights, literacy, and technology-driven policy through discussions and research on social and economic development. The Forum will engage their peers, educators, and policymakers on internet governance issues in Cambodia and worldwide to empower youth digital champions.
The Cambodia YIGF 2023 is an essential addition to the regional Youth Internet Governance Forum movement and the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF). The Internet Governance Forum (IGF) brings together people from diverse groups of stakeholders as equals in talks about Internet public policy concerns. The forum also informs and encourages policymakers in the public and private sectors while there has yet to be a negotiated outcome.
Organizing Committee
The primary role of the Organizing Committee is to ensure the smooth and effective implementation of the Cambodia YIGF 2023 by representing YIGF across various media and other platforms, initiating debates and workshop ideas, developing programs and agendas for each workshop/debate, leading Cambodia YIGF activities, assisting with logistics arrangements, and inviting youth to participate in the forum.
The Organizing Committee and its members shall work extensively to develop a branding strategy, make practical input and suggestions, and cooperate with the Advisory Committee to ensure the activities are implemented effectively and timely.
The Organizing Committee shall work as a team to oversee all the Cambodia YIGF programs, including debates, workshops, meetings, and other activities, to successfully organize the Cambodia Youth Internet Governance Forum in September 2023.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Content Creation and Social Media Management
- Mobilize the participants and recruitment process for the final workshop
- Support the operation and administration during the program
- Develop the concept note and program for each workshop/debate
- Develop the concept note and program for Youth Internet Governance Forum
- Together with the Advisory Committee, call for inputs to come up with the topic of discussion for each workshop and Forum
- Work with the organizing team members to organize the workshop and Forum
- Other tasks as assigned
Project Timeline: May – September 2023
Requirements
- Be 18-35 years old (university students or fresh graduates are encouraged to apply)
- Experience in organizing events or be willing to learn how to organize one
- Creative thinking, effective communication, and research skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Khmer and English
- Be flexible, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Be able to spend at least 2 hours per day on the project
- Attend regular meetings with the Advisory Committee
- Be committed to the complete project
