ECODIT seeks applications for various long- and short-term positions for the anticipated USAID Cambodia Somros Baitang Activity. USAID Cambodia seeks to conserve biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from land use change. The domestic and international illegal wildlife trade is widespread as Cambodia remains a source and transit point for wildlife and wildlife parts. Deforestation and land use change continue at an alarming rate especially in areas of remaining primary forest. The new Somros Baitang activity will reduce key threats to biodiversity, forests and sustainable natural resource management through improving livelihoods, reducing human wildlife conflict and the consumption of bushmeat, and considering generation of blue carbon credits.
This is expected to be a five-year activity. ECODIT seeks qualified Cambodian and third country nationals with experience living and working in Cambodia to support a range of activities over the life of the project, per the following requirements:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in biodiversity conservation, livelihoods development, public policy, or another relevant field. Advanced degree preferred;
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience leading or supporting donor-funded conservation activities in Cambodia and/or South East Asia, experience with USAID projects preferred;
- Strong technical knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas:

- Biodiversity conservation
- Combatting wildlife trafficking and/or bushmeat consumption
- Human-wildlife conflict reduction
- Solid waste management and/or plastics pollution reduction
- Ecotourism development / economic growth
- Sustainable community livelihoods development
- Private sector engagement
- Natural resource management
- Public policy and policy development
- Social and behavior change communication (SBCC)
- Management of endangered, threatened and protected (ETP) habitats and species
- Preservation of ecosystems and ecosystem services
- Conservation financing / “blue carbon”
- Youth engagement and mobilization
- Environmental and social impact assessment
- Gender equity and social inclusion (GESI)
- Capacity building and skills development of local organizations
- Communications and outreach
- Monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL)
- Administration and finance / USAID contract management
- Strong project management skills, along with highly developed interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English or French; and
- Written and verbal fluency in Khmer or other local dialects is highly desirable.
