Position Objective:
In cooperation with the management team the Head of Finance has the responsibility to secure those funds entrusted to the Regional Office are handled in a transparent, efficient and effective manner. The Head of Finance has the responsibility for DanChurchAid Country Office financial management of programmes, projects and office running costs, in close cooperation with other staff.

The Head of Finance is a part of the management team at the Country Office and is expected to contribute to the strategic development as needed. The Head of Finance has responsibility for management of the finance team, to delegate work between them in order to ensure that manuals, formats, procedures, systems are known, understood, and used correctly. The Head of Finance is overall responsible for meeting internal as well as external deadlines in relation to finance and admin, as well as understanding donor financial requirements with support of the team.

Regardless of the content of this job description the employee is expected to participate in any task necessary for the organization delegated by the manager at all times.

Main tasks:

  • Oversee compliance of accurate staff time registration and approval as per DanChurchAid guidelines, for staff that refers to Head of Finance.
  • Overall responsibility for management (planning, implementation, monitoring, reporting) of finances of all programmes and projects undertaken by the Regional Office and CO running costs.
  • Overall responsibility for compliance with specific donor rules and guidelines. Participate in the project approval committees or delegate to finance staff
  • Ensure RO systems are operational and updated (Filing, IT, Equipment, Assets safeguard, electronic back-ups, security risks management?, others)
  • Secure financial control and quality check of all partners and own implemented projects financial reports following guidelines and policies. Ensure quality and timely submission of financial reports, audits and budget proposals. Understand grant management financial obligations and ensure proper support is given to programme staff and Country Director.
  • Network and attend relevant coordination meetings at national level. Build and develop meaningful and effective relationship with partners at all levels, other NGOs in country and regionally, donors and with other people of importance to DanChurchAids work.
  • Quality assurance of financial aspects of the project cycle (budgeting, reporting, audit) and delegation of these tasks to staff. Ensure team is involved in relevant stages of the activities carried out at Country Office and programmes
  • Support capacity building for the finance staff to ensure they grow and develop in all financial management areas, especially reporting both internally and externally
  • The Head of Finance can be included in development of tools, procedure and policies initiated by HQ. Provide feedback to HQ in order to improve systems and procedures.
  • Support develops staff manual and Oversee ensuring that office insurances (staff, office) are optimal and up to date.

Key qualifications and Requirements:

  • 7+ years' experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA preferred)
  • Advanced computer software skills, including Excel and financial reporting software
  • Sound decision making skills based on accurate and timely analyses
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication and leadership skills, with the ability to communicate and manage staff at all levels
  • Ability to lead by example and demonstrate a strong sense of integrity, ethics and dependability
  • Ability to collaborate with upper management to organize, plan and achieve company financial goals
  • Experience working within INGO sector and with local partner organisations strongly preferred
  • Proven collaborative team member and supportive manager
  • Experience with oversight of administration, basic IT systems, and procurement strongly preferred
