WWF-Greater Mekong – on the ground in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam – is working to conserve the region’s biodiversity and build a secure and sustainable future for people and wildlife. WWF has a long history of engagement in the Greater Mekong.
WWF’s mission in Cambodia is to ensure that there will be strong participation and support from all people to conserve the country’s rich biological diversity. The WWF-Cambodia Conservation Programme that started more than 10 years ago is implemented in 2 landscapes – Eastern Plains Landscape (EPL) and Mekong Flooded Forest (MFF) Landscape and built over the following 4 pillars of interventions: (1) Securing Landscape Integrity sustaining conservation and livelihood development, (2) Freshwater and Sustainable Hydropower, (3) Protected Area Management and Conservation Research and (4) Sustainable Financing – Green Economy.
The Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), funded by The Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMU) through WWF-Germany, is a future 4-year project that will be commencing in June 2022. The main objective (impact) of the project is to reduce ecological footprints of consumption and production through a range of complementary interventions, including promotion sustainable low-carbon production practices in priority areas, enabling the use of consumer sustainability information tools, and strengthening the capacity of stakeholders to develop value chain to implement SCP principles.
Major Function
The Food Sustainability Project Manager will serve as WWF-Cambodia’s lead, as one of two countries in South East Asia implementing a regional project. The Project Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight and overall implementation and delivery of the SCP project. This project aims primarily to provide a range of complementary interventions for sustainable consumption and production (SCP) patterns in food systems, agricultural and forestry value chains are adopted and implemented through collaborative mechanisms by governments, private sector companies, farmers and civil society organisations, and influencing consumer behaviour, contributing to country mitigation targets and fostering a range of social and environmental co-benefits.
The Food Sustainability Project Manager will also be responsible for project planning, management, implementation and impact-oriented monitoring of the project’s key interventions in the EPL and consumer behavioural changes in the urban areas. This will involve aligning project goals with long-term private sector engagement strategy and regular consultation with a variety of stakeholders. Parallel to these tasks, the Project Manager will be responsible for consistent monitoring and reporting of progress against the project work plan and budget, and ensuring compliance with WWF-KH’s contractual obligations under the donor grant agreement by fulfilling financial, technical and administrative reporting requirements. The Project Manager is a team leader, responsible for creating a positive team work environment and being accountable for all team members.
