The Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains

The Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains is a first-of-its-kind pooled funding initiative for companies, corporate foundations, and private foundations to invest in the long-term health, well-being, and economic resilience of women who form the backbone of global supply chains.

Through collective investments, democratized processes, and real-time feedback and learning, the Fund is breaking traditional corporate philanthropic molds to lift up women-led, locally driven solutions to the systemic problems that leave women more vulnerable to crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains is welcoming applications from eligible organizations in Cambodia and Vietnam. The Fund will provide general support grants to women-led, community-based organizations that work on the Fund’s main thematic areas of gender-based violence and/or sexual and reproductive health and rights.

There will be two rounds for applying to the Fund:
  • Round 1: Open July 5, 2022 and due August 8, 2022. After a screening and review, a select number of organizations will be invited to submit a more detailed application.
  • Round 2: Open August 29, 2022 and due September 16, 2022.

The Resilience Fund for Women in Global Value Chains is an innovative fund that pools funding from eight corporations to invest in the long-term health, well-being, and economic resilience of women who form the backbone of global economy.

The Fund was created by the United Nations Foundation’s Universal Access Project, BSR, and Women Win/Win-Win Strategies with corporate investors. The Fund supports women and non-binary led organizations who/which address the health, safety, economic well-being, and other critical needs of:
  • Women who work in factories and farms (“suppliers”) that provide products for export to the rest of the world
  • Communities in or near areas where supplier companies operate
  • Communities where women workers and their families live
  • Communities that women migrate from to take jobs

Who We Support
The Fund will make direct grants in 2022 to women-led, community-based organizations in Cambodia and Vietnam that have sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and/or gender-based violence (GBV)/women’s safety and security as key components of their overall programming or activities. Eligible organizations may focus on other areas of concern to women, but they must also address SRHR or GBV, which are essential to women’s economic wellbeing and ability to participate and thrive in the workforce.

NOTE: The Resilience Fund supports women and non-binary led organizations, which is defined as a female or non-binary ED/CEO and at least 50% of senior management being women or non-binary. The term “women” encompasses women in all their diversities including trans women, social class, economic status, indigenous or migrant backgrounds, disabilities, etc.

What We Support
The Fund provides general-support funding for operational and/or programmatic expenses, to grass-roots, women and non-binary led organizations. Fund grantee-partners can use the money in ways it believes is most effective for strengthening its organizational capacity and the scope and effectiveness of its activities or programs. This means that funds may be used to address any organizational need, including (but not limited to) IT and communications systems, financial and data management, and staff capacity building, as well as to provide support for existing services or programs, to develop new approaches or to build partnerships or coalitions.
