This Life is an award-winning community development organisation that believes in listening to, engaging with and advocating alongside families and communities as they define and act on their own solutions to complex social issues. This Life currently operates programs under three sections: Children and Families, Communities, and Impact, Learning, and Effectiveness. These sections are supported by This Life’s Shared Services.
The Communications Officer is an existing position and will join a growing team. The primary purpose of the role is to develop, in English and Khmer, content that is engaging and informative for use on our website, in social media, and for fundraising campaigns. The officer will manage This Life Cambodia’s social media channels, assist with website maintenance, and create marketing materials in support of program activities and fundraising. Fluency in written and oral English is essential, as is fluency in Khmer. The successful applicant will also need to demonstrate competency in utilising publishing tools such as WordPress and Mail Chimp and with graphic design software such as InDesign and Photoshop.
Roles and Responsibilities
Communications Officer
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing quarterly communications calendar
- Assist in the development of key messages that align with the communications objectives of the organisation
- Work closely with This Life Cambodia’s program staff to write compelling stories in English and Khmer about the work we do and the beneficiaries of our programs. This will involve accompanying program staff in the field to attend meetings and interview program participants to provide clear and descriptive reporting in both languages so that minimal editing for publication is required.
- Create engaging written and visual social media content in both English and Khmer for Facebook, our blog, and potentially other social media platforms such as Instagram.
- Assist with the creation of consolidated reports of all digital marketing activities including Facebook, website, email campaigns, and google AdWords
- Utilise Salesforce, Marketing Cloud, and Social Studio for campaigns and communication with donors as required
- Support the implementation of the marketing plan for Moto Doctor, This Life Cambodia’s social enterprise
- Create and maintain a photography archive ensuring that current, relevant, high-quality imagery is available for all programs
Qualifications & Experience:
- A University Degree in a relevant field
- At least 1 year of marketing and communications experience in a relevant role
- Native Khmer speaker, fluent in English, and demonstrated competence in preparing and editing documents in both English and Khmer for publication across a range of platforms.
- Strong writing skills with an emphasis on story-telling/creative writing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other relevant software
- Experience in Adobe Creative Suite programs, such as InDesign and Photoshop, and working with WordPress.
- Demonstrated photography skills.
- Experience managing Facebook campaigns/pages
- Familiarity with Google Analytics and Google AdWords is a plus
- Strong project management skills
- Commitment to This Life Cambodia’s mission and values and ability to represent these within the organisation and to external stakeholders.

Child Protection:
Staff must not physically or verbally abuse beneficiaries under any circumstances and act in accordance with the This Life Child Protection Policy at all times.
All This Life staff must undertake training in recognising and responding to signs of child abuse. The staff member will undertake this training during the first 6 months of employment. This Life will cover the cost of training.
