Introduction
AHC is a leading paediatric health care organisation with a mission of improving health care for all Cambodian children. This is reflected through provision of specialist paediatric health services that often cannot be found elsewhere, while building the capacity of health workers from throughout Cambodia to enact quality paediatric care. AHC has provided over 2 million medical treatments to children from across the country, but our impact is felt far beyond our hospital walls as we strengthen the healthcare system through innovative and effective programs that address today’s child health challenges. To help facilitate this and build upon our existing work, we are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our dynamic Development Team of seven who are based in Cambodia and further strengthen our fundraising capabilities.
The Role
The Fundraising Manager will be crucial in supporting AHC’s Development Department who are charged with funding the majority of the organisation’s US$5.5 million dollar annual operating budget. AHC is a leading child healthcare organization in Cambodia whose impact is wide reaching. Ultimately, the incoming team member will be a part of transforming the healthcare landscape in Cambodia.
This role is part of the Siem Reap based fundraising team and reports to the Deputy Development Director. The role will have interaction with the organization’s executive management team, board of directors, cross-functional business units and influential international donors.
This position will facilitate the flow of new and existing international revenue streams and contribute to the goal of realising fundraising targets. The ideal candidate will have diverse fundraising experience across a range of fundraising functions including identify new funding opportunities, developing grant proposals, cultivating relationships with major donors and managing fundraising events. As a result, candidates should have a proven record in fundraising from a variety of sources, experience of writing detailed proposals and excellent networking and communication skills. AHC works with leading funders from around the world to achieve our mission and this is a fast paced and varied role, requiring communication and team work in a multicultural environment and across diverse stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
Grant funding (50%)
- Successfully identify new high-value donors/funding opportunities and initiate tailored approaches to solicit future partnerships
- Develop high quality concept notes, proposals and applications, with a value ranging between $1000,000 – $250,000 per annum, while coordinating the development process with all relevant medical and non-medical departments
- Draft, develop and refine high quality donor reports and associated communications, ensuring compliance with AHC and donor requirements
- Provide input on the continuous improvement of the proposal development process
Major donors and individuals (30%)
- Cultivate and maintain a portfolio of individual donors (active and lapsed funders) in order to facilitate the solicitation of additional asks and upgrades
- Explore and test new methods for donor recruitment and increasing donations
- Draft compelling proposals for active donors and ensure regular communications and touch points
- Increase levels of supporter engagement and stewardship at all giving levels
Events & Other (10%)
- Coordinate with AHC’s Communications team to develop case studies and other relevant collateral to aid the fundraising process
- Support other Development Department functions including international fundraising events
- Collaborate with the Cambodian Public Relations Department when requested
- Contribute to the management of AHC’s donor management system, maintaining clear and timely records
- Support the Development Director and Deputy-Director to develop new funding strategies and cultivate new donor relationships including organisation of compelling field visits
- Maintain internal tracking of reporting timelines, including working with relevant departments to coordinate appropriate data collection, analysis and financial reporting
Key qualifications and skills:
- Have a Bachelor degree or higher qualification in business, marketing, communications, international development, or other relevant fields
- At least five years of experience in fundraising/grant management role with demonstrable experience in securing multi-year proposals valued over US$100,000
- Have an established network of corporate, foundation/trust, institutional, and or high net worth contacts from previous experience
- Accomplished report and proposal writer with excellent writing/editing capabilities and strong analytical/critical thinking skills, ideally in a child development or health-related field
- Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities and communication skills, both oral and written in English
- Quick learner, able to absorb and conceptualise child health projects in a low resource setting and translate that to funder interests
- Ability to handle and use constructive feedback in order to make needed changes to proposals and reports
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to determine priorities and meet multiple deadlines
- Able to work well both within a team and independently in a challenging and fast-moving multicultural environment
