Job SummaryThe Media Development Director is
responsible for the overall operation of the Media Development
Department, which includes providing supervision and assistance to the
heads of units in the operation of the units and implementation of
projects under the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Program and project management
- Initiate discussion with unit heads and project-in-charge in conceptualizing project ideas for new projects or continuity of existing projects;
- Collaborate with the Resource Mobilization Director in developing project proposals for new projects and continuity of existing projects;
- Prepare periodic work plans for the department based on approved projects and work plans prepared by unit heads or project-in-charge;
- Guide and assist project coordinators in preparing monthly achievement reports and work plans for reporting during monthly meeting; and
- Assist respective project coordinators in implementing the projects.
- Management functions in the department
- Ensure that monthly meeting of the department is held regularly according to agreed schedules by assigned meeting facilitators;
- Ensure that each unit heads prepare reports for reporting in the monthly meetings;
- Authorize requests for advances for the planned activities of the projects; and
- Prepare monthly update report for reporting in the Management Committee meetings.
- Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Work closely with the M&E Officer in updating the M&E database of the department to ensure complete collection of required and relevant information for reporting;
- Assist in the completion of required project narrative reports for on-time submission to the donors and partners; and
- Assist the M&E and Advocacy Coordinator in finalizing monitoring and evaluation reports, such as the periodic reports, based on the information collected using the M&E tools, and ensure timely production and distribution of such reports.
- Other duties
- Perform other tasks as maybe required by the Management Committee and Executive Director.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Cambodian national;
- Tertiary qualifications related to public relations, business and administration management, project management, and communications, or equivalent experience;
- At least 5 years work experience with a senior position in a non-government organization with experience in strategic planning at an executive level of an organization;
- Experience in organizational development, fundraising, donor relations, communications, and advocacy;
- Exceptional communications skills as demonstrated by the ability to represent the organisation at a national and international level on donor and stakeholder relations issues;
- Knowledge of and sensitivity towards working in a cross-cultural environment as demonstrated by the ability to engage and motivate staff to effect change in cross-cultural settings;
- Capacity to think and plan systemically, including ability to manage complex responsibilities and prioritize competing interests in a manner that represents the best interest of the business; and
- A passionate and energetic team member with a genuine interest in working to develop independent and professional media, promote human rights and democratic governance.
