CUFA is a development agency focusing on financial inclusion, improving financial literacy and supporting economic livelihoods. CUFA has been developing community access to affordable financial services in the Asia Pacific region for over 40 years, working cooperatively from grass-root communities through to government levels, building capacity in emerging financial cooperatives to create sustainability, improve lives, and relieve poverty.
CUFA’s head office is based in Sydney and there are five international offices in Fiji (serving the greater Pacific), Timor-Leste, Cambodia, Myanmar and Bougainville PNG. Over the last few years, CUFA’s international work has grown. The purpose of this role is to provide financial literacy training to respective primary schools, targeted 3000 students per fiscal year and give administrative support to the project.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
- This position reports to the Project Coordinator.
- Work closely with Project Coordinator
- CFL Officers, local communities, and local project partners
- School directors, teachers, and community saving bank
- Sub-governmental stakeholders (Provincial Department of Education Youth and Sports…)
- External partners
- Project Officer will work to provide financial literacy training to 3000 students annually in respective primary schools and work closely with community saving banks to promote children good saving habit by open saving accounts.
- Provide financial literacy to 3000 children from grade 1-6, age between 6-12 years old in different primary schools following the five CFL lessons and CFL app
- Conduct teacher workshop to raise awareness among teachers about Children Financial Literacy program
- Conduct home visit to children’s family nearby targeted schools to encourage children saving
- Follow up children for saving at home
- Look for community saving bank and encourage children to open saving account
- Prepare study tour with children to community saving bank
- Write monthly report and keep track on data training
- Select new schools for new fiscal year of the project
- Communicate and negotiate with local authorities – school, community, governmental department
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
Essential
- Bachelor degree in Finance and Banking or Accounting or other related fields
- Have at least 2 years’ experience in teaching small children
- Good English proficiency (writing, speaking, listening, and writing)
- Good at Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet and email)
- Have a good report writing skills – qualitative and quantitative
- Commit to travelling in rural area to meet the project sites
- Good negotiation skill with different stakeholders
- Be flexible, honest and hard-working
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with partner organizations and stakeholders such as government departments
- Ability to work under pressure and create a good team work environment
- Local resident is preferred
- Knowledge of, and involvement in, the credit union movement
- Good computer literacy, Microsoft Office, Internet and Email
