WFA seeks to recruit a Communication Officer, who will lead all the internal and external communication functions of the organisation and support the Program team in its activities. The duty station of the Communication Officer will ideally be one of the three existing offices; however, it can also be a home location anywhere in Asia mutually agreed upon with the ED.

The Communication Officer will help develop, update and implement WFA’s communication strategy through a comprehensive communication plan to promote a culture of robust sharing of knowledge and learnings among the donors and grantees within the WFA ecosystem, and to external audiences as well. In order to achieve this, the ideal candidate must be able to fulfil the tasks stated below:

• Devise a communication plan phased out over the yea
• Work closely with the Program team to identify appropriate learning and exchange platforms, including key conferences and important annual events, and build social/media strategies around these events
• Develop appropriate messages suited to identified online and offline channels of communication
• Oversee and manage publication of knowledge products, including annual reports
• Collate, organise and manage information on the WFA website
• Capture and draft stories of change from grantee progress reports
• undertake visits to grantee organisations to document progress and identify potential stories of influence and/or change
• Identify and use appropriate social media channels to maintain constant engagement with donors, grantees and other target audiences, as identified
• Identify vendors and consultants across Asia region and maintain a robust consultant roster
• Support the WFA team in resource mobilisation events
• Develop and disseminate newsletters - quarterly and event-related

Essential Skills and Qualifications
Skills

1. Passion for, commitment to, and in-depth understanding of women's and trans* rights issues, particularly in the Asia region
2. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in communications, preferably in the development sector
3. Fluency in spoken and written English and good research and editing skills
4. Demonstrated capacity and experience in the use of traditional and emerging media for advocacy, dissemination and communicating results
5. Demonstrated ability to work across time zones and with consultants and vendors located in other parts of Asia
6. Experience in engaging with media personnel and ability to liaise and engage with corporate and alternative media is desirable.
7. Prior experience in organising events and managing end-to-end coordination is desirable.

Qualifications

1. Post graduate or graduate degree in mass communications or journalism with a degree in English studies, social sciences or other relevant field
2. Prior experience in using or managing design softwares, video production, and photography is necessary
3. Experience managing on-line communications using content management systems is desirable
4. Understanding of website back-end management along with content creation and updating is desirable
