Spark Change is a collaborative project of The Wheel and Trinity College Dublin. The project funded by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
The goal of Spark Change is to improve the economic, social and environmental sustainability of communities across Ireland, and to gather information on how community and voluntary activity is contributing to Ireland’s commitments to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.
We want to empower the doers in every community to spark change by signing up to the Spark Change Challenge and sharing their success stories with other communities.
What is the Spark Change Challenge?
We are challenging you to start a project that will help your community become more environmentally, economically and/or socially sustainable.
Your project can be simple or more ambitious, local or more extensive, short-term or long-term.
Spark Change will give you access to expert advice, guidance and training. We will also help you network with other communities that are working to become more sustainable.
What are the benefits of taking part?
> Access to expert advice, guidance and free training
> You will be invited to a series of networking and information events across Ireland
> Access to small grants for community coffee mornings
> National exposure for your project
> All participating projects will be entered in the Spark Change Awards
> All shortlisted projects will receive Spark Change plaques
> Prizes
Who can take part in the Spark Change challenge?
Any community and voluntary organisation, individual or group of people with a shared vision can sign-up to the Spark Change Challenge. All participating projects must be based in the Republic of Ireland.
A “community” can be a group of people who live in the same geographical area, for example, a village or city neighbourhood, or a “community of interest” (a group of people who share a common interest or heritage).
