BBC Media Action is the BBC’s international development charity. We use media and communications to reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. We partner with civil society, local media and others to produce creative programmes in multi-media formats which inform and engage audiences around key development issues, and strengthen the media sector through capacity building. Our work is built on insights from our research and engagement with communities, and is focused on three key themes: governance and human rights, health and resilience.
BBC Media Action has been working in Cambodia since 2003. Our work is focused on using TV and online media to reach young people in Cambodia. Loy9 helped get young people involved in local and national decision-making and Love9 helped young people learn about sexual and reproductive health issues. Klahan9 is currently working to improve young people's employment prospects.

To take responsibility for the design, development, testing and management of all social media and other digital products across all of BBC Media Action’s work in Cambodia. The Digital Team Manager will lead a team of specialist staff and provide expertise and intelligence in the use of mobile, social media and web technologies to senior management across the organisation.

The Digital Team Manager will lead a team of specialist staff and provide expertise and intelligence in the use of mobile, social media and web technologies to senior management across the organisation.
Main Duties & responsibilities:
- Develop and manage the social media strategy for the Klahan9 project, and other new projects as they arise, working closely with project heads.
- Manage the delivery of all digital outputs across multiple projects, within budget and to deadline; and manage project plans, risks and issues.
- Take responsibility for the compliance of all digital output, ensuring that all products are in line with BBC Editorial Guidelines, contractual and copyright requirements, social inclusion strategies and other relevant policies.
- Lead a team of diverse professionals, line managing several staff within the department and working to get the best out of them and develop their capacity.
- Work with the research team and Senior Project Manager to initiate rigorous audience research, ensuring that all products are user-tested at appropriate stages.
- Manage strategic relationships with external suppliers, including content producers, mobile phone companies, graphic design and development agencies and NGO partners; and, alongside the administration and project teams, manage contracts with these external organisations.
- Keep abreast of technical and editorial trends and developments in the mobile and on-line fields – externally and within the BBC. Use knowledge and expertise to assist the senior management team in developing and implementing digital strategies.
- Provide training to others to help develop digital skills in the team.
- Manage the budget for the digital department, within delegated responsibility from the Senior Project Manager; and provide support to meet the reporting and compliance requirements of donors and other stakeholders.
- Directly line manage several members of the digital team ensuring you get the best out of staff and put steps in place to build their capacity.
- Regularly liaise with the Klahan9 TV Series Producer to ensure that the Klahan9 TV and social media outputs are aligned and making the best use of the content available to them.
- Lead the digital input into the development of new business across the organisation, providing ideas and expert advice; and drafting and reviewing sections of business plans, project proposals and funding applications.
- Maintain clear communication channels across the organisation, including with BBC Media Action’s digital team in London, and contribute effectively to being part of a multi-platform, multi-project organisation.
- Undertake any other relevant tasks or responsibilities as requested by your line manager.
