Training on Integrity and anti-corruption
March 7 - March 18, 2016
The training programme aims to increase understanding of the
international anti-corruption framework and related integrity policies.
The role of various actors and international instruments in eliminating
corruption and promoting the rule of law will be examined and
corruption’s relation to international development and human security
will be discussed. Moreover, the course also provides insight in roles
and responsibilities of different actors in promoting integrity in
organisations. The seven building blocks of integrity will be discussed,
as well as coherence of integrity policies with the overall financial
and HR-policy.
The training is designed to broaden your understanding of the
complexities of corruption, its root causes, and impact on society. In
addition, knowledge and skills to develop a sustainable policy for the
promotion of integrity will be enhanced. Special attention will be paid
to obstacles and dilemma´s in the implementation process and how to
overcome them. During the course we will visit amongst others the
Ministry of Interior, the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the
Municipality of Amsterdam.
The participants of this course are working for different
organisations in different countries. There will be plenty of
opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from each other’s experiences
and enrich your network.
Learning objectives
This course will help you to:
- Examine the cross-cutting nature of corruption and the social impact surrounding it;
- Have insight in the importance of integrity for well-functioning, transparent (government) institutions and for economic growth;
- Be able to deal with challenges related to anti-corruption and integrity policies;
- Identify instruments for increasing transparency and accountability;
- Better understanding of the implementation of the international framework of anti-corruption conventions, protocols and best practices;
- Know how the Dutch policy for integrity of civil servants is shaped and organised.
After successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate of The Hague Academy for Local Governance.
This training is interesting for
Professionals working for municipal, provincial or national
government, for a donor organisation or NGO and who are involved in
anti-corruption , transparency and accountability processes in relation
to development and governance.
The experts
To increase your understanding of the underlying principles and
mechanisms of corruption and promoting transparency and accountability
processes, experts will share with you their thoughts and experiences.
Contributions come amongst others from Ronald MacLean-Abaroa, former
mayor of La Paz Bolivia and World Bank expert and representatives of the
Dutch National Police, National Integrity Office (BIOS) and the Court
of Audit.
