We are looking for:
Specialist - Agricultural Research and Development
Job Purpose:Under the minimum supervision of the Program Leader, the successful candidate will conduct and facilitate trials. Organize the collection of data and analyze them. Coordinate the transfer of knowledge through different means, including training and demonstrations. Develop partnership and work close partners. Monitor the performance of extension programs and prepare and submit reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural science or related field with minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in agricultural farming systems, Agricultural research field; or
- Master’s degree in Agricultural science or related field with minimum of 3 years or relevant work experience in agricultural farming systems, Agricultural research field
- Has extensive work experience in the field of agriculture
- Has strong oral and written communication skills
- Has strong organization and interpersonal skills
- Has experience in training management and facilitation
- Is computer literate in MS office and statistical data analysis and report writing
- Has some experience with monitoring and documentation of fields activities
- Is a team player, is able to work independently
Experience in handling agricultural development project in reputed organization is distinct advantage
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate the implementation of research activities and analyze data in the areas of [development and dissemination of modern rice varieties (MRVs)/STRVs]
- Coordinate, conduct and facilitate trails, and maintenance and data gathering of field validation
- Organize collection of data such as targeted dissemination, field performance of MRVs/STRVs, impact assessment, feedback of farmers and other beneficiaries, socio-economic aspects etc
- Manage, analyze and report data on performance and promotion of STRVs
- Prepare presentations and reports on collected data
- Coordinate multiplication of FS, CS and TLS in project area through NSCL, public-private institutions, CBSO and small seed growers
- Evaluate seed demand and ensure supply of seed to partners and seed growers
- Conduct needs assessments on [seed demand, training of partners and farmers and promotional activities
2. Knowledge management and training
- Transfer technologies, identify technologies and provide technical inputs to [NARES, Public-private partners, CBSO, seed growers, farmers
- Identify training needs and organize training courses for CBSO, seed growers and farmers] on [quality seed production, best management practices and storage] at the field level
- Develop manuals and support the conduct of training based on the manuals
- Assist implementing partners in organizing trainings or demonstrations and assist in farmer-to-farmer dissemination of technologies
- Plan and organize field demonstrations, field days and farmer training on [quality seed production & storage and best management practices]
- Assist partners in applying a community participatory farming systems approach
- Establish collaboration links and partnerships with government agencies, public-private institutions, seed growers, dealers, distributors, CBSO and farmers
- Coordinate with regional partners in the entire project domain for implementation of activities, timely submission and compilation of reports and ensure dissemination of information and inputs in the target areas
- Provide assistance in organizing workshop, conference, training and monitoring visits
- Organize regular meetings with partners and stakeholders to discuss, streamline and implement activities
- Monitor and evaluate field level performance related to technology dissemination and adoption
- Prepare and submit report to Program Leader on issues related to project implementation and performance
