Project Officer for Asbestos Training Program (1 position)
Union Aid Abroad – APHEDA (Australian People, for Health, Education, and Development Abroad) is seeking a project officer, to assist with implementation of an asbestos-related disease awareness project, in co-operation with the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training and the Building and Woodworkers Trade Union Federation of Cambodia. This is initially a one-year position.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the program co-ordinator and technical adviser to carry out seminars, workshops and meetings for partners and key ministries, employer groups and worker representatives
- Assist the program co-ordinator and technical adviser to run training and awareness programs for labour inspectors
- Assist the program co-ordinator and technical adviser to run training and awareness programs for building workers and other relevant workers
- Help to ensure that project objectives are met.
- Work with the program co-ordinator and technical adviser to produce a training manual and IEC leaflets
- Provide support to partners to ensure that project activities are implemented effectively and efficiently
- Co-ordinate with APHEDA finance staff to ensure project expenses are accurately accounted for and cash advances are acquitted according to schedule.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Required
- Experience in adult education as a trainer, particularly in worker programs
- Experience in training programs for women
- Able to communicate well in spoken and written Khmer and English
- Ability to work as part of a Cambodian and international team
- Good administrative skills, including abilities with database, spreadsheets and word-processing
- At least Bachelor’s degree in related fields (preferably in education)
Desirable
- Experience in union training
- Membership of a union
- Knowledge of asbestos-related disease
- Ability to work with government officers
- IEC development skills
