Education Advisor
As an important member of NH Education Team, the Education Advisor is responsible to provide technical and advisory support to the Education Program in order to enhance the quality of our activities. By complying with NH vision, mission and policies, he/she will contribute to achieve its goals and objectives.
He/she will be reporting directly to the Education Program Manager.
The position is based in Kompong Chhnang Province with frequent travels to Mondolkiri Province and Phnom Penh.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities for the job are:
- To build the capacities of New Humanity pre-school teachers through on-going training
- To build the capacities of primary school teachers by providing effective pedagogical support during the Thursday Technical Meeting in the selected clusters
- To supervise the effective implementation of lessons learnt by pre-school and primary school teachers
- To provide technical support to NH staff
- To prepare on a regular basis short and interactive trainings for pre-school teachers based on existing experience and knowledge of the teachers, in order to train them on basics of pedagogy, lesson planning, class management, etc. and to improve their daily teaching.
- To analyze and understand the curriculum currently used in the pre-school and if needed make the necessary modifications to make it more focused on acquisition of competencies than knowledge and more adapted to the needs and capacities of the children according to their age and the local context.
- To supervise the pre-school teachers on a weekly basis in order to ascertain the implementation of the teachings and provide suggestions and timely feedback.
- To support primary school teachers on basics of pedagogy, lesson planning, class management, etc. during the monthly technical group meetings (TTM).
- To supervise primary school teachers on a weekly basis in order to ascertain the implementation of the teachings.
- To provide the DTMT-1 teams with feedback on the supervision of teachers and discuss with them strategies to improve the quality of teaching.
- To share with NH management staff a broad knowledge of the Education situation in Cambodia, i.e. education policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia but also education projects of other local or international organizations by:
- Sharing specific documentation about educational projects and materials of other NGO and donors active in children education by attending NGOS meetings (as Educam for example) and by developing contacts with relevant NGOs, always in close collaboration with NH management staff.
- To provide guidance to NH staff regarding the technical aspects of the project in order to enhance the quality of the service provided to the beneficiaries of the project.
- Cambodian National
- Education related degree
- Master in Education (strong asset)
- A minimum of 3 years of pedagogical experience training teachers of early childhood care and primary education
- Strong knowledge of all education policies in Cambodia and specifically of the Child Friendly School policy and the process of its implementation
- Good communication and presentation skill and demonstrated ability to establish effective and fruitful relationship with local authorities and other stakeholders
- Patience, tolerance, flexibility and commitment to working with disadvantaged people in remote areas
- Honest team worker with strong ethical values, sense of responsibility and demonstrated accountability
- Knowledge of English and computer skills are required
- Motorbike driving skills and valid driver’s license is required
- $US 700-1000 per month according to experience and qualifications
