TCO is seeking a Research Officer to join the Rice Field Fishery Enhancement Project in the research and development for field implementation. The position will begin immediately and will be a 1 year, renewable contract. The position is based in Siem Reap, but you will be required to follow up various target Community Fish Refuges on a regular schedule.
The Research Officer will be responsible for carrying out all activities regarding our RFFEP project, including community work plan and surveying, project implementation, project evaluation, follow-up on the success of the project, training, and project reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop project implementation plan with Field Research Assistants.
- Support coordination, and communication of research activities to assigned projects.
- Oversee day-to-day all data and information collected by Field Research Assistants and ensures that data are robustly confident.
- Cooperate with The WorldFish Center Assistant Project Coordinator to follow up RFF/CFR targeted areas.
- Ensure FiAC is formal information and support to projects under the assignment provided by TCO about RFF projects.
- Working together with the The WorldFish Assistant Project Coordinator to support the coordination of project field activities and liaise with other implementing partners/stakeholders for all matters pertaining to administrative support.
- Working with Assistant Project Coordinators to check and collect on the field data level and processing of senior analysts.
- Participate in surveys and organize and attend workshops.
Qualifications:
- B.Sc. level qualifications in fisheries, aquaculture, environmental and biological sciences or rural development.
- At least 3 years professional experience in a field relevant to fisheries, natural resources management, or rural and development.
- Experience in a community research or development organization is preferred.
- Excellent communication
- Self-motivated and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and demonstrated accountability
- MS Word, Excel, access, power pint, ArcGIS, Adobe photoshop…etc.
- Has excellent spoken and written Khmer and English abilities
- Ability to travel frequently and work in rural area
