Setting clear strategies; motivating your team, managing budgets, external experts and consultants; and establishing productive partnerships, you will promote and protect human rights throughout the Commonwealth. This will involve developing policies and programmes that raise awareness, capacity of national bodies and commitment to fundamental human rights in our member states. It also involves being our lead human rights expert and adviser, leading and managing our human rights team and interacting with UN and other relevant organisations.
With a post-graduate degree in human rights, law, social sciences or other relevant area, you have gained considerable knowledge and practical experience of implementing international human rights. This will have included experience of supporting governments and national human rights institutions in their capacity building programmes. With evidence of successfully managing a team, you will also be familiar with working in complex multicultural and intergovernmental settings.
We work with our 53 member governments in areas of economic, social and political development. We do so by providing practical technical assistance, offering thought leadership and innovative solutions, and advocacy. As we improve the wellbeing of 2.2 billion citizens, 60% of whom are under 30 years of age, so we give you the opportunity to take a significant step in your career and make a significant contribution through this role.
