Senior Associate, Nutritious Foods for Children and Mothers
Responsibilities
  • Identifies resource mobilization opportunities, develops fundraising proposals to ensure the ongoing sustainability of the Initiative.
  • Leads the project design process and funding approval of projects in selected countries.
  • Manages project implementation in countries where there is no GAIN country office.
  • Manages the transition of projects to Program Delivery and ongoing interaction with country offices during project implementation.
  • Liaises with the Program Delivery team to ensure that all project activities are completed according to the project implementation timeframe and budget, and identifies innovative project management solutions to ensure constant communication and smooth and timely budget disbursements.
  • Liaises with monitoring and evaluation field activities; ensures timely data collection and analyzes the performance progress of the Initiative in collaboration with GAIN’s Monitoring, Learning and Research team.
  • Develops and leads implementation of the Initiative’s communication strategy internally and externally.
  • Supports the Director in the annual work and budget planning processes.
  • Prepares high-quality, rigorous reports and other materials to communicate the achievements of the Initiative to GAIN’s Executive Management Committee, the Board of Directors, donors and the general public.
Experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in developing and managing projects.
  • Proven experience in nutrition and related public health programs in the field.
  • Experience in a multi-cultural environment and preferably managing local issues in developing countries.
  • Business development / private sector experience (desirable).

Skills & Attributes
  • Excellent project management and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to use initiative, prioritize, multi-task, and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to operate within the corporate and public sectors to effectively liaise with private companies, development agencies, and governments in multiple cultures.
  • Strong communication skills in multicultural, multi-lingual environments, written and verbal.
  • IT literate with excellent MS Office skills including advanced Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) in English.
  • Knowledge of French or another language is considered an important asset.

Education
  • Master’s Degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Food Science, Business Administration, Economics or a suitable equivalent.
