Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights (LICADHO) is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political human rights organization established in July 1992. With a central office in Phnom Penh and twelve provincial offices, LICADHO aims to promote human rights and the rule of law.
LICADHO is seeking a highly qualified local candidate to fill the position of Children’s Rights Consultant for LICADHO’s Phnom Penh office. The purpose of the position is to provide support and assistance to the Children’s Rights Office (CRO) and to work as a bridge between Finnish donor organization ODW and LICADHO, specifically relating to advocacy material.
Main Responsibilities:
- Participate in planning of advocacy strategies, campaigns and material
- Help to produce guidelines for CRO staff on documentation and reporting
- Draft articles, media statements and other advocacy material for LICADHO-ODW websites and other forms of social media
- Help to produce advocacy material by taking photos and using tools such as InDesign and Photoshop edit material
- Research and develop new tools for educational activities between Cambodian Child Protection Groups (CPGs) and Finish schools
- Pilot and test new tools by implementing activities
- Review and assess project activities after implementation
- Identify, and assist in developing and conducting, specific training for CRO staff aimed at improving quality of advocacy materials
Qualifications and Requirements:
- University degree in journalism, communications or a closely related field
- At least 3 years’ minimum experience working in the field of journalism, communications or public relations
- Working knowledge of children’s rights and international human rights instruments
- Strong research, documentation and analytical skills
- Strong oral and written English communication skills, including in writing, editing and proofreading; preference given to candidates who speak/write Finnish
- Experience developing media contacts and working with the media
- Excellent spoken/written English; preference given to candidates who speak/write Finnish
- Strong networking skills
- Knowledge of photography and material designing
