Child Labour Elimination Project in Cambodia
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations with a mandate to promote social justice and improve working and living conditions for people everywhere. The ILO is preparing a proposal to the United States Department of Labor to implement the “Project to Combat Child Labor in Cambodia.” The project aims to support efforts to reduce child labor in Cambodia with a focus on reducing social exclusion and promoting economic opportunities for Cambodian households most vulnerable to the worst forms of child labor.
The ILO is inviting applications for the following positions:
Project Director
The project is expected to be implemented in early 2013. All positions are contingent on funding.
Key Duties: a) Lead the project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, including provision of technical and administrative supervision to the project team; b) Foster sub-regional networks of government policymakers, trade union organisations, employer’s organisations and civil society organisations; c) Effectively manage human resources including recruitment, staff development and performance management of the personnel under the project.
Required Competencies: a) Education: Advanced university degree in economics, social sciences, or related field and good knowledge of development issues, particularly in Cambodia; b) Experience: At least ten (10) years of work experience with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in managing technical co-operation, project management and in implementing development programmes in the field of labour and employment, social protection, human trafficking, migration, or education in Cambodia. This should also include experience in a leadership role; c) Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English and Khmer; including ability to write analytical technical reports; d) Competencies: Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects; ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders; good knowledge of child labour issues (previous work experience in this area would be an added advantage).
