Child Labour Elimination Project in Cambodia
The International Labour Organization (ILO) is a specialized agency of the United Nations with a mandate to promote social justice and improve working and living conditions for people everywhere. The ILO is preparing a proposal to the United States Department of Labor to implement the “Project to Combat Child Labor in Cambodia.” The project aims to support efforts to reduce child labor in Cambodia with a focus on reducing social exclusion and promoting economic opportunities for Cambodian households most vulnerable to the worst forms of child labor.
The ILO is inviting applications for the following positions:
Local Coordinator
The project is expected to be implemented in early 2013. All positions are contingent on funding.
Key Duties: a) Responsible for managing the operation and providing technical advisory services towards the execution of the project at the provincial and local level; b) Ensure that the programme partners and selected implementing agencies work according to agreed work plans and agreements; c) Assist in local capacity building and advocacy efforts.
Required Competencies: a) Education: University degree in economics, management, social science, or equivalent in experience; b) Experience: At least five (5) years of experience working with authorities and vulnerable and excluded local populations, particularly in Cambodia. This should include experience working with indigenous groups, government and civil society groups; c) Languages: Excellent written and spoken command of English and Khmer; including drafting skills; d) Competencies: Ability to work independently with a minimum of supervision; good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team; ability to use PC software and office packages.
