Participatory Development Approach is a foundation development and very important for people who work for community development to build competency to be a person who work effective in field of development. Participatory Development Approach will guide detail method and practice include best experiences and its success factors, which will help trainees be aware of and can apply effectiveness in establishing a community to be sustainable development.

To enable effective facilitation and be responsive to the development needs of the community, the trainees will learn more about deeply concept of development, the phase in-phase out scheme community organizing process, participatory development approach, principle to work with community, and how to compile and organize group include Self Help Group(SHG)/community based organization principles(CBO).

There could be changes in the technology that would require them to acquire new knowledge and skill to cope with the changes. The training will conceive in response to the need of helping the trainees.

Overall Objective
Participatory Development Approach (PDA) training workshop is to bring good lesson-learnt and best practices for successful knowledge, experiences, skills and abilities in rural development including group (SHG) formation in Cambodia to all community workers by adding in their gaps in operating their development at grass root level.

Expected Outcome
By the end of this two-day training, the participants will be able to:
  • Deeply understand of development concept which can be adapted into practices;
  • Adapt practical skills and techniques in development in various fields in which promote participatory approaches;
  • Identity key areas to build, improve and develop community organization effectively;
  • Be competent to select approach for development at grass root level; and
  • Be confident in working with community and become active facilitation in development.

Who is the trainer?
Mr. Prum Siyen is a rural/community development specialist. He owned extensive working experiences in the fields of community organizing and community development since 2003. He has experienced working in this field with many local and international NGOs and the joint collaboration with government agents. He possesses over nine-year experiences in building competency to community workers to form and strengthen the community based organization leaders to meet their requirements. He involved in strategic development for functioning CBO establishment, set up a series of capacity needs for healthy CBOs and strategies to sustain the community-based organization for further operations.

Currently, he is a senior project officer for LLEE, responsible for building capacity to community and development partners to develop effective strategies for sustainable development in the community and in the organizations. He also holds a Master Degree of Integrated Management of Agricultural and Rural Development, Certificate for higher education teacher from National Institute of Education (NIE). With his qualification and extensive experiences, he was invited to do presentation in many international training seminars.

  • First 10 registrations receive 5% discount of total fee per course.
  • Group registration of three or four persons at a time of the same course receives 5% discount of total fee per course.
  • Group registration of five persons or more at a time of the same course receive 10% discount of total fee per course.
